Default Whisker biscuit or........

Next year I am planning on switching back to aluminums and fixed blades. This means I am probably gonna need to have big vanes as well as alot of helical fletching. Would you recommend a Whisker Biscuit or the Muzzy Zero Effect rest? Thanks in advance.

i dont liek the whisker biscuits they seem like too much trouble to knock arrows if u need to make a quick shot.

They look like they would be no more time consuming than normal prong rests, atleast the new ones. Anyways, I only hunt from treestands so I will have an arrow nocked long in advance.

I dont like whiskers at all> they say they slow ur arrow to form the whiskers hitting ur fletching> also they take longer to knock , and if u shoot , somehow miss and the deer bounds once and stops that extra time could mean the extra shot or not. Just my opinion but i will never put one on my bow. Now the drop aways arent that bad , im jsut skeptical on them becuase they are so new , ill give them a lil while and talk to others to see who likes them.

Based on Fixed blades and big helical fletch, I think you will encounter less tuning problems with the MZE...

I have a whisker biskit on my Q2 and I really like it. New style that knocks just as fast as any rest and is absolutely silent. Chrono shows it only slowed the arrow by about 2 fps. Not enough in my opinion to make any difference. Deer will jump the fastest arrow, especially if put on alert by an arrow that hisses/squeaks on a rest or that thumps a riser when it falls off the rest. Neither of which are concerns for me now. Seems to shoot just as accurate as my old 2 prong style. By that I mean I am hitting ping-pong balls at 20 yards. I have bow hunted for over 20 years and was skeptical of the biskit until I finally tried it. Drop aways have too many moving parts for my liking.

All right here it is strait from carolina archerys tech department read it for yourself. On a second note I get so tired of hearing how long it takes to renock an arrow. In case some of you are living in the dark and or speak bad of products you are not very familiar with. The wisker biscuit has a speed loader it has a notch taken out of the side of the biscuit so it is just as fast to nock as a prong rest, fall away, etc etc.

Justin,
Thanks for taking the time to contact us. You can shoot any arrow you like
through the Whisker Biscuit. Our tests indicate that there will be some
speed loss if you use longer fletching and if you put more helical or offset
on them. Using more helical will increase the contact between the vanes and
the biscuit so more fletching wear should be expected. Some people are
trying to build an arrow with a specific purpose, like a large broadhead and
a heavy shaft for big game which may require more fletching to stabilize the
arrow in flight. The current trend is towards carbon arrows and they work
well with shorter fletching, say 4" instead of 5" . With the smaller shaft
sizes its difficult to assemble an arrow with a lot of helical because the
ends of the vanes want to lift up so its more common to see a slight offset
of 1 to 4 degrees. Around here, we shoot carbon arrows with a 4" vane or
feather using a slight offset of 1-2 degrees. With fixed blade broadheads
shot around 260 fps we are getting good arrow flight and broadhead control
out to 50 yards. Speed loss with this set up is only 1-2 fps. If you are
trying more offset, we would suggest using the tougher types of vanes
available from Flex-Fletch, Bohning, or AAE' s Speedflyte.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to call if you have any
other questions.

I have never used the whisker biscuit but have nothing but very good to say about the zero effect. It will be on every bow I own from now on.
