Illinois non-resident permits are all sold out for next year? Not hardly! I don't know of anyone that has purchased theirs for next year yet, CD. I don't even think they've went on sale yet. Last year they didn't sell out until mid-August, and I'd be willing to bet they last longer this year -- maybe into the season -- because they doubled the price of them.

Even though I live in Missouri, I can't be of much help on where to go. You're right to look to Northern Missouri though. Stay above I-70 and you'll be fine.

Cardeer,

Not sure if I understood you correctly, but if you had an outfitter in Illinois tell you they were all sold out,...I would cross him off my list immediately, if I were looking at outfitters in Illinois. Here is a link to a thread from a few days ago. See what Sagatarius had to say about Illinois. He is accurate!

Also, when I was looking around I noticed that outfitters seem to be far and few between in Kansas also! I'm sure they are around but I couldn't help but wonder if it just hadn't caught on yet like in Illinois.

I have some info I would be happy to share with you on Illinois. In fact I sent a LONG note with lots of links to Muskrat the other day. I looked at ~20 outfitter in Illinois and narrowed from there. Here's my direct e-mail if your interested. [email protected]

Yes,..I work at Xerox,.....and I'm still employed!!!! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I agree with Twang and MQ1. The application deadline hasn't even occurred yet for this season! On another note, what exactly is a free chase hunt?

Twang and others thanks for the info ,I will be checking things out.The outfitter in Ill' was in pike county and he said all his permits were sold out,so I quess he meant they were all promised to someone else already. Cougar ,What I call a fair chase ,Im sorry I said free chase, is one without a fence,Yes the land is leased or owned and mamaged for big bucks. If Im going to spend 3000,travel 2400 miles round trip and endure teeth gritting body pain for a chance for a 150 plus, which is all I will shoot on that type of hunt I want at least a honest person to deal with that delivers what he says he will.To bad cause I can hunt free in Iowa but I will never get a tag,for atleast another year or maybe 2 because of there draw and preference system.Just lookin around ,maybe I wont even go at all, depends alot on nancys health.

I don't know of outfitters from Missouri. If your open to suggestions, I know a few places here in Kansas. I've got some local outfitter webpages you could also look at. If your interested let me know and I'll give you some addresses.
