Default Colorado bow regs question

My friends is under the impression if you apply for a bow hunting tag you're not eligible to apply for a rifle tag in the same year. Is this true? I have a vague memory of hearing if you don't fill your bow tag you can hunt rifle season with the same tag. Any idea where the regs relating to this would be?

He is correct, how ever you can buy left over tag's for the rifle seasons. Once each season ends the tag for that season is done also, so if you want to continue to hunt you need to buy a tag for each season if there are any left over.

You can also get a ton of info from the Colorado Division of Wildlife web site.

certainly can't use "the same tag" from one season to the next, but you can buy other tags if there are left overs available.

It's also possible to have mulitple tags, but they can't be off the same list.

Very true.... There are other states that you can hunt some units during archery and then later hunt during rifle if you hadn't filled (some hunts\tags in MT and WY for example) - but not aware of that option in CO....
