Default QAD Ultra Nok

Hey guys ive been bowhunting about 3 years now, been using a string loop for my release and had it slip and punch myself in the face twice now. I saw these QAD Ultra Noks and they sound like something I might want to switch to but really dont know much about them nor the pros and cons of that type of loop compared to the string loop. What are your opinions?

I used to use an aluminum loop, which i think is what your refering to. I liked it, the only thing was it seemed to get chewed up by my release. The string loop is more forgiving in my opinion. Don't feel bad, i have punched myself in the face a couple times too in the same way. I didn't appreciate it, but my buddies who were shooting with me sure did. What a laugh they got.

The only reasons to punch yourself in the face with a string loop is if you tied it incorrectly in the first place (including melted the ends wrong) or didn't change it out when it was worn or you used loop material that is of too small diameter for your release jaws to keep from slipping through.

All of which are your, or your shops, fault and not the fault of the loop.

I bet you melted the ends of the loop material and then flattened them with the side of the lighter??????????

Assuming you aren't one of those people that likes to rest their trigger finger on top of the trigger while drawing the bow and "accidentally" "shot" the bow.

The aluminum loops are absolute crap. Stay away from them.

Hey, not all bow shops are so good. I had it happen twice in a row, both were tied in by so called "experts". I would also stick with the string loop, just let someone who knows what they are doing tie it in.

Thanks for the input guys. I didnt tie it or melt it, our local archery shop did it for me. I think the string loop was just starting to get warn is all. And yeah my buddies sure had a blast with it and somehow talked me into shooting it again saying I may have bumped the release haha. But wrong they were and BAM punched myself right in the face yet another time haha. Sounds like I better stay with the string loop just make sure I switch it out after I use it for a period of time.

Not all loop material is created equal.

BCY loop material is excellent. Very wear resistant, fairly stiff and does not stretch at all once tied. Very very good stuff.

Brownell low creep material is awesome. It's extremely wear resistant and very slick for a very clean release. It is the best I have ever used but is thin diameter and very flexible so you must have the proper release to use it. A TruBall dual caliper release will let this material slip through. A Scott dual or single caliper release will hold it fine. This stuff is perfect for a release that uses a hook like a Scott silverhorn or TruBall Beast or a back tension release when you have to rotate your hand coming to full draw. I prefer thismaterial above anything I have tried to date.

Brownell standard loop material is decent and provides decent wear resistance and melts well though it stretches a little.

PSE loop material is pretty good stuff. Wear resistant, stiff and melts well.

The crap you get from Allen is absolute junk.

I have an Ultra Nok that I am going to replace with a string loop .The metal Ultra Nok makes a noticable noise when I shoot the bow .
