Default UPDATE NORTHSTAR STAND

Well i got bored today and went and got some clear plastic 5/8 in. I.D. x 3/4 plastic tubing to put over my chains on my API Grand Slam Supreme and after pulling it over the chains(pain in the a#%) and burning new holes w/soldering iron I got to thinking that this chain should work on the Northstar Big Starr also, so I took the plastic inserts out of the ends of the stand and put the chain in and it works perfect. On the bottom part i had to drill a new hole for each side as the ones for the cable that come w/it are vertical and the chains need a horizantal hole for the pins, its about a hundred times easier to put on the tree, quieter also and you dont have to worry about putting your eye out with the springy wire or cable whatever you want to call it. Also if anybody wants new chains for their API stands (Grand Slam) just go to TSC farm supply and ask for A2040 chain it comes in 10 ft. lengths and is 13.00,(exact same chain thats on it) you can buy 2 and get them for 26.00 compared to API`S 55.00 asking price. My next step is to take it to local welding shop and have them weld me some armrests on top of the ones already there about 5 inches taller so i can actually rest my arms on them, then i believe this will be a awesome bowhunting stand.DEAN
