You guys wouldn' t point the gun at someone unless they were pointing at you...

That is the whole idea! To protect yourself. Not to go rob someone... After reading that it seems like you have the same attitude as a few...your not democrat are you? You have the same attitude that anti' s have... youknow the attitude where you think" there is no reason for you to carry a gun unless you' re planning on robbing someone.
Yeah I know I might get killed by defending myself, but the way this world is you might get killed by not defended yourself. Atleast I have a chance...no matter how little... of stopping him from doing it to another person. Go ahead drop yer drawers and grit yer teeth, then scream like a bit**. Not me!

I guess some you guys don' t have any crime in your area.[8D]
Like I said ,I don' t have to carry a gun on my hunting club or my land . But there are places I feel I do need one.
Really this is more of a question of " How far will you go to kill a nice buck?"
I only know of a couple of places that I stand a chance to kill a 120-160 class buck with a bow. They require me to use a boat to access the land and the easiest way to get there is by using some remote boat launches that are miles down dirt roads . There is no town ,no police, and currently the counties are too poor to afford a full time Game warden. Mostly fishermen and some hunters have been getting robbed at gunpoint at some of these launches a lot for the last 5 years. It' s mostly locals, very poor , and addicted to crack doing the robbing.
Nobody has had a Ned Beatty incident or anything crazy like that, that I' ve ever heard of anyway. But they have had guns stuck in their face , been robbed, and there have been some murders during the robberies. And I have had stuff stolen out of my truck while I' ve been out hunting.
Some of you I' m sure would quit hunting these locations because of the risk. Some of you might think I' m full of crap .But I will be walking to my truck with my hand on a .357 if I am uneasy about approaching my truck and I will keep hunting the areas (cause I can' t help it !!).
The fact that some of you do not have to worry about stuff like this and find the need to mock people that don' t have it as easy as you is the real joke of this thread to me .
Be glad you got it easy !!

Oh Glen, the idea isn' t to struggle and make a mad dash for your concealed weapon...that would be foolish. You wait till you have a chance...if it comes, then you use it. Quite a few people have gotten the upper hand when they pulled their concealed weapon!
It has happened to me once. on private property I was supposed to be the only one there, and yes I did pull my weapon and draw down on him... The shocked look on his face when my 9mm came out just as he lowered his rifle and I had the drop on him, AND HE KNEW IT! he was only 10 feet or so away. Was he just bluffing me so I' d leave? I don' t know. If I didn' t have my weapon on me I might not be here today.
I understand some of the comments on this topic have been tongue in cheek, but some have not. Those of you who think it will never happen sound just like those people who used to say " No one will ever attack the U.S.!" Don' t you read the news?

OK you guys got me. Fact is I been huntin for 45 years and lost one animal to a couple of weenies I coulda whipped good. I carry a pistol 95% of my life and I' m a republican just right of atilla the hun so thet don' t carry water. The canadian thing was a joke and I like most of em I' ve met just no pistols there. You point a gun at someone here and you better be feared of your life or go to jail to watch deliverance. I have carried a pistol bow hunting a few times but it is heavier than any of my fears. I think all should be allowed to carry concealed in all states and also keep fully auto weapons if they want. Just that every time this comes up we get a bunch of stuff about scary noises in the night and it seems that the situations involve NY and Calif where you ain' t got crap fer gun rights. Everyone can carry a pistol on their hip here and always could. Now we can carry concealed and a funny thing happened-crime dropped! Keep up the good fight but don' t tell me what I gotta be scared of. Some one points a gun at you fer any reason you need to drop them with that pistol cause that ain' t funny. Good hunting.

CBM, sorry I misunderstood.
Glen, the prefered movie when in jail is " Cool hand Luke" or so I' ve been told. BTW I would never pull my weapon unless I had reason to fear for my safety, just as Florida law says.

I carry my 40Cal H&K with me while bow hunting. I carry it in my backpack in a sealed plastic bag(for scent purposes). As a Police Officer who hunts in the same area that I work I need to carry because you never know!!

I' d guess that the majority of folks out here in Montana carry during elk season...and not for fear of running into some jackass or dope head. There is some pretty wild country out here with some critters that would like to eat you for dinner....and I know I feel more comfortable having my .357 mag on my hip or in my shoulder holster while bow hunting. I think as a last resort, I would like to have that in my right hand while ole griz is chewing on the left! Course you can carry in the open just about everywhere out here too....cept for federal/state buildings, banks, bars, etc. That' s the way it should be!
