The Doe or the buck

RE: The Doe or the buck
I' d have to look at the 10 pt and decide. If it was a shooter, then I' d take him. If not, I' d shoot the doe.
Straightarrow....your question almost answers itself. If I consider it a " shooter" ...then I' m shooting. That' s why I' m out there. Only way I' d be passing up what I consider a " shooter" is if I don' t have a tag.

WV Hunter,
Unless you are against shooting does, or already have a freezer full of meat, then the doe is also a " shooter" . Lot' s of people will pass on a 1.5 year old juvenile 10 pointer (including myself). Some will pass on a 2.5 year old 10 pt. buck. Very few will pass on a 3.5 year 10 pt. buck and only a select few trophy hunters will pass on all those, until a certain size rack is presented. If I have a freezer for of meat and a doe and a small 10 pointer present themselves, I' ll let them both pass.
I' d like to know if presented with two " shooters" (one being the doe), would anyone take the doe first? I think virtually everyone will take a buck over a doe, if the buck is big enough. A tiny 10 pointer and a monster 10 pointer can generate two completely different reactions from the same person. So, how many people prefer a doe over a buck, even if the buck is what you consider a " good one" ? A true meat hunter who wants the best tasting venison, might choose the doe. Something in my gut tells me that a really big buck would influence the decision making of even the most ardent of " meat hunters" .
