We sell 2003 Cat 400 AUTO FIS for 4900. A Outlander we sell for 5395. A little more....twice the quad and 6 times the warranty. The Cat is a nice machine and does have it' s strong points like Ground clearance. But that Bomber has a MUCH stronger motor and almost as good ground clearance.

I wish I bought an atv yrs ago. I got a 2001 Arctic Cat 500 auto. Been a great machine for me. Never had a problem with it, except a blown tailight bulb. I think I' ve used it more for work then play down to my camp. I just used it this past wknd putting in my food plot. I test road several machines back in 2001, and for the $ at that time it seemed like a decent machine. Had everything I wanted. I don' t have anything against other makes, most all are good. I do get tired of hearing about Polaris, just like I get tired of hearing about Mathews, hehehehehe
. Sometimes I do use my for hunting, getting to my stand if the spot I go too is a few miles off from my camp.

I own 3 four wheelers. Polaris Sportsman 500 and Yamaha Grizzly 660 and Polaris Sportsman 90 (kids)
Love all three! Before I bought the 2003 Grizzly I really checked out the field. 4 months of test rides, riding friends and reading reports. Here were my conclusions from the bigger machines:
Polaris - good overall, the best ride, the best brakes, very heavy, develop rattles
Honda- the best overall engineering, weak ride in bumps, Rincon they' re new machine is weak. Its not designed for utility use, its a trail riding machine. Foreman and Rubicon are excellant.
Kawisaki - Great power, weak ride, good pulling power, heavy.
Yamaha - Decent ride, good power and pulling, ok brakes, fairly light
Suzuki- doesn' t offer a big maching(600+) Weak ride in bumps
Artic cat-Doesn' t offer a big machine(600 +) They' re starting to figure it out.
Overall all these machines are pretty good. Light years from where they were 10 years ago. Each manufacturer has they' re strengths and weakness but once you know what you want the decision won' t be too hard. Example if you want an independant rear suspension for the best ride you can rule out Kawasaki, suzuki and Honda. Honda has the Rincon it looks real nice and has independant rear suspension but for hunters pulling deer or elk, working on food plots and hard general use, not an option. One more thing, you don' t need a 700, many 300 or 400 will do everything you could need!

Broken arrow, I wish I had talked to you first. Those prices you list are way below what they sell for here in NJ. What state are you in where they give those things away?
And yes, one of the reasons I bought the Cat was for the ground clearance, but it' s like stepping up into a truck. It' s bigger than I thought at first, but still a well balanced machine, and rides very nice. I also was surprised how easily it handles. It' s a little tougher to turn in 4-wheel drive, but overall, it is pretty smooth.

before this thread dwindles out, I' d like to ask a question.
I' ve always owned a manual transmission. I was a little afraid of the belt driven atvs.
all ya' ll that own a belt drive atv, how do you like it? does it slip when you go through high water. if so, how high of water can you go through, and be safe of the belt not slippin. and are the belts durable?
I' m thinkin my next atv will be the Kodiac push button 4x4(400)
anybody know anything about these atvs? thanks

Xibowhuter,, no dont take it that way,, they are great machines! im actually looking for a lightly used one for ice fishing. They are great for doing alot of things,, people do tend to get carried away though.
Ive lost alot of excellent hunting areas because of people tresspassing with atv' s. I hunt some other areas close to home,, but in all honesty,, im on a bird watch 20' up a tree!
Now I drive 531 miles each way to deer hunt, its excellent property and lots of it too hunt(1000 acres private). The owners of the property DO NOT like atv' s. I am the one who hands out the required permission forms for any hunting on the property. If you want to hunt it,, you hoof it!

Most don' t have any trouble with the belts untill they get into deep water for more than a few seconds.I have had to help people that got their belts wet and the bikes would not move.
The Rubicon doesn' t use a belt and neither does the new Rancher 400 that Honda has come out with this year. This is the most awesome automatic 4 wheeler transmission going right now imo.It will never slip and gives you the option to use a push button standard shift transmission if you want.

I have never sold a belt for a Auto ATV.
I have seen people who go boggin' in the high water and that is fine as long as you take your actual belt cover off and clean it all up real good with brake cleaner. If you don' t...you' re asking for trouble. Even the one that have drains...they should be cleaned the same way...because the drain itself don' t cut it.
Email me if you want any info on my dealership that I work at. I' m not sure that the people who own this site would like that. I don' t wanna get booted for advertising for my workplace. I' m here for me...not them. And...we are in upstate NY.
And yes...everybody makes something nice.
