It will pay off if the world as we know it comes to a end and everyone is running out of food. 
A nieghbor asked me how hunting would really benefit me. I told him that line he said thats ok when you kill the deer i will just come steal it. I laughed and said ok then i will take my evil black rifle and kill you then take everything you leave behind. He said not if i shoot you first. I laughed again and ask how he figured he could do that when he was a liberal and did not own or know how to use a gun. he said when the time comes i'll figure it out.

thats JUST deer season gear too.. not to mention the turkey, predator and water fowl, include dog and training,

If our wives only knew how much we spent on hunting. I didn't have to buy any gear this year and have spent about $500.00. This includes but not limited to:
$100.00 NY license, $50.00 annual heat & electric donation to land owners, lots of food, beer, vodka, mixers, bottled water, pizza & wings, donuts, gas,...did I miss anything...I think that's about it...oh yea...great time with buddies hunting.....PRICELESS!

Yeah you really don't want to start calculating the cost of deer per pound. That is way I always chuckle when I hear someone say that hunt as MAIN way to feed their family. You have to look at the enjoyment factor, which is priceless. As someone else on here stated, look at it as mini vacations or theropy that allows us to function as normal humans.

its not my cheapest hobby of mine..however i wouldnt sell of give back anything i bought..it is the most rewarding aspect of my life at this point in time..i wud spend my paycheck on hunting before most things
