Default More questions from the novice....

Some questitions about stabilizers.... What is the purpose of the stabilizer? Do you always need one? I have bought a new bow and although I haven' t tried, I believe I could shoot it just as well with out the stabilizer. On my old bow, the top of the bow would, in a relaxed grip, lean towards me. This new bow seems to be way more balanced, just slightly leaning forward...what a differance 10 years and a few hundred dollars make.
Thanks.

well for one it does balance the bow.. it will make you have a steadier shot. but it will also quieten your bow making it not as loud when you shoot at deer.. that alone should be one reason to get one.. btw do not get a sand filled one if possible.. that just helps with balance.. you need one made of gel/rubber/silicone/navacom to have a noise reducer effect..plus it reduces vibrations felt from hand shock which in turn helps with accuracy i suppose.. may even help your bow last longer (maybe just a guess)

A stabilizer has one more critical property. It tames vibration and therefore increases overall accuracy.

A good stabilizer works wonders to tame vibration on a bow. I like Doinker brand stuff, but any moveable rubber or navcom type should work well. Also certain bows like certain stabilizers, try a few on your bow and see what works for you.
