I can honestly say that I dont really do a single thing to "control" my scent, other than prepare for which way my scent is going to blow.

Last year I bought a new leafy suit. Unless its too cold for "street" clothes, all I wear hunting is regular ol shorts and a t-shirt or whatever with my mesh leafy suit over it.

Wanna guess how many times ive washed the leafy suit??? Never... 3 deer last year in it, and 2 so far this year... The deer I killed 2 nights ago was right under me, and feeding. She was under me for a good 5-6 minutes. I had worked out that day, and still had my gym shorts on, a t-shirt that I had worn before working out, and my old nike shox... They are tattered and once they get warmed up a bit they are smelly to say the least...(first deer I killed last season was in shoes as well)

I will agree with everyone that a deers nose is the hardest part of the deer to fool. Without a doubt, they are super sensitive ANY unnatural smell, and I believe that unless you leave your clothes out in the woods and then go put em on, after youve slept naked out in the leaves, you are still not a natural smell to the woods.

Whatever works for ya tho man! Obviously the smell thing hasnt disturbed my hunting too much, but everyones circumstances are different. If I had an abundance of moolah i might even use scent blocker clothing b/c they really have nice stuff.

Scent controle is one thing, scent elimination is another. You will never, ever kill all your scent. I dont care what product you use, you will alway stink and a deer down wind will always bust you. How ever, you can reduce your stink and not polute the area as much. But still, if you do not play the wind, you will get busted.

I recall a day when the whole notion of scent elimination was not even considered. We killed just as many deer as people now do. It is all in how you play the wind and play your scent trails when you travel.

I was out last week after teaching at school all day. I had deoderent on, cologne, hair gel, the whole nine yards. Never showered, went out after school in a sweatshirt and windpants. Within 20 minutes of sitting in stand (just to scout a bit here at school) I had three doe walk by at about 35 yards. Surprised, I checked the wind. "Ahhh the winds going right away from them, no wonder," I thought. Well, approximately 30 minutes later I have a buck come from straight down wind, I see him at 35 yards, and he continues to make his way toward me. He stops at about 30 yards, sticks his head in the air and smells, then continues toward me to about 15 yards. He ate and slowly made his way into the field. "Huh, thats weird" I thought. A few minutes later, another buck, and then another, all from the same direction. Then around dusk, 15 minutes or so later, I had another buck right under my stand. I was never busted that night.

Now I KNOW I smelled that night. Although I may have smelled good lol, but nonetheless. 7 deer when going out to scout with cologne and other things on is crazy. I dont know the reason for what happened, but I still felt it was a bit odd.

Tractor smell is a cover scent where tractors are used.

I only know that before I started paying attention to my scent deer routinely busted me. A swirhling wind is about all that busts me anymore.

I am a firm believer in scent controll i had two does down wind of me out about 20 to 60 yards. They never knew i was there. The only thing they knew was there was the doe urine i put out why they where there. I could tell they could smell it the older one lifted her nose up. I think it is what made her circle back to get upwind of me.
