Horizontal pins or Vertical pins?

I disagree. You do see more of the target yes, but it' s not the important part you are trying to actually hit. Vertical pins form a straight line that blocks out all of the area you are actually trying to hit. Sure, left and right of the pins are clear, but who cares! You aren' t trying to hit an animal in the head or rear. You are trying to hit the kill zone. Who cares what is being blocked out by the pins on a horizontal pin sight. You aren' t missing anything you are trying to hit anyway.

Vertical for 6 years and doubt I will ever go back.
Treestand sniper, I disagree with you 100%. I' m not sure what vertical pins you have been looking through but I haven' t come across any that block the area you are trying to hit. On most vertical pins I have found that the actual " pin" is thinner than the " dot" so you barely notice it. Secondly, the area I want to hit I cover with the " dot" not the " pin" portion. I would also contend that horizontal pins can block out one of the most important parts of a deer when attempting to take a shot, the head. I try to never take a shot if a deer is looking at me. A horozontal pin could easily block out a deer' s head so you would have no idea where it is looking.
