Which Sight??
#1
I bought a Tomkat 2 years ago whenI got back into bow hunting. It was a package deal with the sight already on it. It shoots awsome but seems fragile. I haven't bought a sight in over 17 years and could use some advice. I use the bow for hunting only.I would like to keep it in the $100 dollar range but would spend more if needed. Any advice on a good durable sight with bright pins would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Bryan,
Look into Sword Sights, I think for the money, they are about as good as you can get. I have a couple Swords, a couple Tru-Glo, a couple Cobra, and another Toxonics, and the Swords even the one that was cheaper than the other brands are superior in my opinion. Get something like a Sword Twilight Hunter with .019 pins, and you will be spending less than $100, and have a GREAT sight.

Thanks Doug. That shows how long it's been since I've bought a sight, I haven't even heard of Sword sights. I'm on my way home from work, I'll look them up on the net when I get home.

Bryan,
I'm glad to pass along the advice. If you'd asked me a few years ago, I thought for the money the Cobra sight I was shooting was pretty good, but these Sword sights are high doller quality at low-dollar prices. Do a search on archerytalk.com on "best sight for the money" or something to that effect, and you'll find a LOT of guys saying SWORD, sort of like a couple years ago, and still today, many guys will tell you that for the $$$ a Nikon 440 is probably the best RF you're gonna find. And if you're in that market, take a look at the "Archer's Choice," it's a really nice RF, which will be my next one when I can rationalize needing another or if my 440 dies on me.

I have to agree on the Sword sights. One of my friends talked me into buying a Sword Apex 3rd Plane sight a while ago, and it is awesome. Very well built, bright pins, and quite inexpensive when compared to other brands offering similar features.

I shoot an 07 Tomkat.... I changed the sight and rest as soon I got it. I put them, on my now ex wife's bow. I was looking at an extreme and a Sword sight. I went with sword. The biggest reason 4 me was that the dealers in my area were out of both. I was told the same about both sights......... should be here in 3-4 weeks. I went back in 4 weeks and the sword was in stock and the extreme wasn't. Then I wanted to see the difference b/w the 2. I waited another 4 weeks and went back to look. No extreme..... sword was there when they said it would be. First 3 weeks. I went with sword. Great sight! Very durable, very bright. I had a problem with the light on my sword and I called them. I spoke with the sword guy for like an hr..... not argueing but just talking about hunting. I also got a new light in 5 days. No charge. And it was the updated model.
