i LIKE TO GO BETWEEN 12 AND 20 FT WHERE EVER i CAN GET THE BEST VIEW AND SHOT. LAST YEAR ABOUT 18 AND HE CAME OUT AND LOOKED RIGHT UP AT ME FOR A WHILE THEN WALKED OFF TO WHERE I COULD GET MY SHOT. 5 POINTER AT 125LBS RUN 100 YRD AND FOLDED.

Most of my stands are in the 22-26 ft. range. I`ll go as high as I need too, or as low, depending on the situation.

I`m too dumb to be afraid of heights, but I notice that the older I get, the faster the harness is hooked up!

I adjust according to the terrain and the tree, but I usually try to keep it around
15 to 20 feet. I like the shot angle from these heights.

good post..i was wondering the same thing being i never been in a tree stand except once to film a kid i know..he went up no lie 30 or more feet...his rope is 30 feet and he climbed with the bow hanging for a good few more climbes with a climber...i was like whoa! your nuts! i felt comfortable upto about 25..but the trees really were bendind and swaying in the lightest breeze....i didnt like that much...but thats his style of hunting...thanx for the post guys..that saved me from doing one later on!

I go 17' up with my hang on stand, the Summit Swiftree climbing stick is 17' so that is as high as I go. I just use a couple of screw in steps to get me up above the platform so I can step on it safely.
My climber goes up 20-25 feet usually depending on the tree.
I have shot deer from less than 10' up a tree so height isn' t a real concern for me.

i agree with rack attacki am usually 15 feet up not much higher it is to thick here on long island

I usally go about 6 0r 7 hundred feet high.I stop about half way up and eat my lunch then i vist with the elvish folk for an hour or two. i hardly ever get a shot off though because i am out of daylight and out of range by the time i get to where i' m goin.comin down is easy though. i have a parachute and if it doesn' t get hung up in the branches i can be down in 2 minutes or less.sorry about this post i didn' t sleep well last night and i have no idea why i stopped here[X(]

In the area I hunt, I' ve never had the need to go higher than about 15 feet. I don' t like to be lower than about 12.

On an average I hunt with my seat at about 18 or 19 feet...Any higer and I can' t see far enough arond my tree.....
