Depends on terrain. I have been as low as 10 feet and as high as 26-27. On average I am probably in the 15-20 foot category..same as most folks.

I like to set at around 25ft.---20ft seems to low and since i hunt on a hill the deer coming down always look up at me when i am 20ft or lower. Sometimes set up at 30ft.

I build my ladder stands at 16 ft.
If I could get 2x4' s at 18ft cheap enough then that would be it!

here in PA. the deer walk around looking up in the tree' s for danger so I try to get between 18 and 22ft. if the area I want to hunt doesnt have a tree that will allow me to get that high, I will settle for a tree that allow' s me to get atleast 15 ft. up if it has good cover to break up my outline, If I cant get 15 ft. I will opt for a ground blind. Pike

15-20 ft is usually plenty high for me. I have had times where i had to go lower or higher depending on the cover and the terrian.

My pull rope' s 25' , so i like to get that tight, which puts me about 24' to the base of my climber. However, I much prefer to be 16' or so, if there' s mice cover. Better angle on the closer shots. It' s all about cover. My best permanent stand is only 12' , I kill a buck out of that every year.
