jag-mag, give some details as to what you are shooting, I myself usually end up shooting around around a 400grain arrow, including broadhead with my bow at 58lbs, it does the job very well. You will need to match the setup of your arrows to the bow and cam type you are shooting.[8D]

Grains per " inch" ? I have not really heard that phrase used in reference to a minimum safe arrow weight except in relation to High Country' s recent speed claims. Most folks use " grains per pound of draw weight" instead as it relates amount of mass to a figure related to energy release. Grains per inch does not really help in the sense that it ignores arrow length and how that can impact the weight of the arrow.

I,m shooting a 27" blackhawk vapor carbon3000,309 gr total weight including 75 gr
broadhead. 60# martin jaguar magnum at 255 fps. I have a reflex cam 1/2 on
order and I' m thinking of going to a blackhawk 4000 for the weight and better
KE, with the cam1/2 system I dont think I would lose any speed maybe even gain
some even with the extra weight. What do you guys think?

Its kinda personal preference and shooting style. How far do you expect most of your shots to be? I go with a heavier arrow because I hunt where most of my shots should be short and I also use a range finder in the unlikely event a long shot should present. Its a give and take, and you have to decide what you want to give and what you want to take.

I' m not familiar with the Martin Jaguar. But at 60# with a 309 grain arrow you should be faster than that. Your shooting around 5gr. per pound of bow weight. And that is a slow speed for that kind of weight unless the bow is an older slow cammed bow. In any event I would put more broadhead weight on that arrow probably to at least 85 gr. and I personally would use either 90 or 100 gr broadheads. At the speed you are shooting your arrow probably doesn' t weigh enough for a clean passthrough shot. But if it works for you, thats ok too. My experience has been that shooting a light arrow like that doesn' t give me the performance that hunting shots require. I' d add some broadhead weight. The Reflex will shoot a lot faster than what you have now.
