Default Fall '09 scouting

Whazzup homeboys?! Same old, Same old here. House shopping... Ugh.

Anyway, I was able toget outyesterday and spent the day scouting in Ohio on some public land and freezing my cajones off. There was some snow cover, so finding any sheds was a pipe dream, but I just wanted to walk some new areas and find the bedding areas and look for pinchpoints and geographic features. Mission accomplished.

Yesterday morning temps were -5 or so, with a little breeze, so it was a little on the brisk side.Mywater bottle lasted a couple hours before it was frozen into an Aquafina bowling pin. I took my gloves off long enough to try to wait out and photo a big herd that was working my way - in the 15 minutes it took the herd to workaround the ridge, my gloves (apparently sweaty) were frozen solid. LOL

Maybe next weekend, if this snow ever melts off, I'll get back in there and grid out a few of the heavier bedding areas that I found. Some of those places looked great for shed hunting. Either way, I won't be denied. If I have to go out there and shovel the woods with a damn snow shovel, I will.

In all, I saw about 25 deer - so that was encouraging. I guess the gunners didn't get 'em all...

There's a deer across the lake, but it didn't show up so well in the pic

I have a stand site across this beaver pond

2 deer

Same 2 deer. Can't really see 'em.

Great pics! If you need help I would be happy to join you and dont worry I wont steal any of your spots. I am going crazy sitting in this house. I live outside of Youngstown so anywhere around this area I would be happy to meet up and find some sheds.

Nice pics. Looks like you have a good area. Are you playing "Where's Waldo" cause I don't see any deer? Unless I'm blind.

I was out this morning for the last couple of hours scouting. Was a lot of fun and it reminded me of why I love hunting.

The jerky is in the dehydrator as I type. I'll have some for the next trip. -5 is a littl too chilly for me.

Good to hear from you Fran! Quite a few deer, were they yarded up in hemlocks or spruce or were they dispersed over quite a bit of acreage?
