Keeping the feet warm
#1
I was tapeing a hand warmer under my foot/toes to keep them warmer in the bitter cold we've been havingand it basically worked but you could "feel" themunder there. It was slightly uncomfortable.[:@]A friend suggested tapeing them on the top of my foot/toes for comfort, do you think I would get the same desired results?

The same company that makes the disposable hand warmers also makes toe warmers. I have found that if you can get by without them you are better off. If one goes out your feet will be miserable cold in minutes. I now have some really good winter packs, much better idea IMO.

I bought a pair of "arctic boots" that are amazingly comfortable and warm. My feet can stay warm in temperatures that would freeze the rest of me. I also have an extra pair of arctic boots from my cold weather infantry days in the Marine Corps that saw some drasstically cold temps and kept my feet warm. They aren't as comfortable as my new boots, but they are alright. I am sure you can find either kind online or at a surplus store. We always called them VB (vapor barrier) boots.

I have found these to be the bomb if the temps really dip down.

No you really want them on the bottom. Also you really want to use the foot ones as they can burn on alot less O2. I have been using these disposable warmers since they came out in the 80's so trust me. Now the do build one that is the whole length of your foot. I also sit all day sits in sub-zero weather here in MN, and I will still prefer to use REALLY GOOD boots over warmers. I have Sorrell boots rated for -75 a much better choice IMO.

I don't know where I got them but they're the neatest things. They're boot inserts, like a Dr Schools thing that have an open slit section under the toes. You put a handwarmer in each insert and then put them in your books. Keeps me toasty without having to buy boots that weight 5 pounds a piece. LOL
