First of the year
#1
Well, I just couldn't stay out of the woods.
Got out for about 4 hours this weekend for a bit of shed hunting, still seeing bucks running around with both antlers,so I wasn't real optimistic on finding anyting, but the weather was nice and the dog is starting to look a bit on the round side
, so walking through a row of pines or should say almost crawling through the pines, and I stumble across the first shed of the year. In between trying to keep from getting slapped in the face by a branch and trying not to dump a load of snow down my neck, I look down and see this little gem poking out of the snow. I took the picture from where I saw it. Look close, it is there.

maybe this picture is a bit easier to see the monster shed.....

The dog looking at the shed just before he took it from me and started chewing on it.......seems like he can only find sheds that I am holding.....

The best news of the day is my dad was out with me, and I pushed some deer down to where he was looking, they ran by him (about 50 yards away) and in that group that went by him, he said there was a buck larger than the one I got with a bow this year, (actually he said it is the largest buck he has ever seen in the woods, this coming from a guy that has a 165" hanging on the wall) hoping that we find that set, even if we don't stumble across the antlers, it should be alot of fun looking for it......

Nice find! My brother was In South Dakota this past weekend hunting with a ML In there anterless season. There was a total of 6 hunters and they shot 10 deer. 4 of the 10 deer were bucks that already had shed there antlers. They all said they wouldn't of shot any of the bucks If they would've known they were bucks that had shed there antlers. They figured 3 of the bucks were 3.5 year olds and the other one a 1.5 year old.
