Shot a DXT for my first time today
#1
I've been in the market for a new bow and today I shot the DXT, Drenalin, and AlphaMax 32. Currently, I shoot a PSE Firestorm...loaded with Limbsaver accessories to dampen vibration and sound. Decent bow. Have never shot hardly anything but a PSE before. So the first shot with the DXT, I was absolutely amazed. I couldnt believe how good feeling this bow was. You couldnt feel ANY hand shock whatsoever. Drenalin was about the same I thought. So I then shot the AM32, which I was actually most excited to shoot. Felt nice with a nice hold at full draw, but noticed just slightly more hand shock than the DXT.
Im debating now guys. This is really tough. I was set on an AM32 if it shot nice, but after shooting the DXT Im having second thoughts.
Anyone have experience with these bows let me know, PLEASE! I need some help with this one. Someone tell me why I should get a DXT, cuz thats what im leaning towards.

When I went looking for a new hunting bow I was looking for something light weight for goat hunting in the mountains here. I was tired of lugging my heavy, long Old Glory through the brush and up the hills. I set-up and shot a friends Drenalin for him and thought I'd give the DXT a try even though I was very leery of the short ATA with my long draw length (29.5"). I've been very impressed with the bow but found that it was a bit louder than the Drenalin (probably just a reflection of less mass to absorb vibration). With a pair of LimbSavers attached to the inside of the limbs, a Sims stabilizer enhancer and a short S-Coil stabilizer along with a better and heavier string (and 560 grain logs for arrows) she is fairly quiet now. I wasn't counting on having any kind of tack driving accuracy out of this bow but didn't need it for goats so I was fine with that (I've got other long ATA bows for reaching out on caribou/reindeer) but I was flat amazed at how accurate this thing has been. It is easily shooting as good as I can shoot out at 60 yards (4-5" groups). I would never recommend it for a 3-D target bow but it is an exceptional hunting machine. One thing I can say is to plan on replacing the string, I'm not a big fan of the Barracuda strings; they're way too flimsy, but that's where Mathews gains back some speed for the less efficient cam system.

I love my DXT, I also went from shooting PSE bows to Mathews, and I couldn't be happier. I liked the short ata length of the bow for blind and treestand hunting, but I wasn't counting on the tack driving accuracy this little bow is capable of. When I bought and rigged up this bow, I got my twenty yard pin dialed in and shot three arrows. All three shafts were touching, all drilled into the X on the target, and I'd cut two fletchings. DO NOT shoot groups with this bow unless you enjoy refletching arrows. There's little to no hand shock, very quiet, and it is overall the kind of high quality machine we've come to expect from Mathews. If you go with a DXT you won't regret the decision.

That is a beautiful bow. What kind of sight is that Kodiak? I got short arms and pull 27", would that work better considering the short ATA?

The shorter draw length should be even better for making this bow more forgiving, but that's true of any bow.
