RE: Very BIG cat

The photo looks like a flash was used so there wouldnt be any shadows. When people measure a couger or other cats they MUST get measurments with the skin on the body or get carcus measurments. When I put the skin on a form there seems to be twice as much skin . All taxidermist can tell you the same story.
Like bear , people will give a 10 foot nose to base of tail measurment after the bear is steached to the limit. Im sure I could strech a 50 inch hide two feet but Im not into lieing about size I like telling facts.
Was those 7-9 foot lengths body or skin measurments?

Don,

JRW. Is it my imagination, or is there a shadow on that picture.
Not your imagination at all. Look at the left and lower edges of the subject matter (cat and hunter). In particular...the lower & left edges of the front paws, the cat' s forehead, and the left edges of the hunter. Notice those shadows appear against the garage door and not the hunter' s body? That' s because there' s more distance between the cat and the door than there is from the cat to the hunter.

Simple answer...camera flash. The flash and lense are not in the same line. The flash on a camera is usually above and to one side of the lense. This causes border shadows opposite the flash. If the flash is to the right of the lense, the border shadows will be on the left, above the lense and they will be below, and so on. Photography 101.

If you' ll look at the photo I posted of the deer, you' ll see the same thing on the bow' s riser from the grip to the base of the upper limb...the back of the buck' s neck below its ear, and even along the top edges of the deer' s upper legs.

It ain' t rocket science...it' s just the way a camera flash works. :D

Don, you should call " Bob" Everitt because he is the regional director for the Fish and Wildlife Commision in Region 4 in Washington where this cat was allegedly taken. It will only take you a couple of minutes to confirm the fact that they have absolutely no record whatsoever of not only this large cougar being taken but that the fellow who allegedly harvested it hadn' t been recorded as harvesting any cougar whatsoever. He can be reached at (425) 775-1311. If you don' t want to incur long distance charges fax him at (425) 338-1066. You might as well hear it from them directly because it' s obvious there' s no convincing you. All it takes is a phone call to determine for yourself one way or another with 100% certainty. Or do you want to hear the truth about it? Talk to " Bob" and then get back to us. Thanks. As for JRW' s shadow theory, shadows get more diffuse the further the distance. If anything the shadow against the hunter should be quite visible with the garage being quite diffuse. You just have to put your hand by a light and move it towards a wall to see this. If anything, the shadows should be less visible against the garage door not the oppsite. I thought any 3rd grader knew this.

At it again Raven? Is your sole purpose in life to shed doubt on other hunters awesome trophies?

It seems my initial judgement of you was right on course!

I dont think anything else needs to be added , you' ve already done a great job making yourself look foolish![&:]
