I agree camo patterns can certainly be situational, and even work better than others with blue skies, gray skies, no foliage, full foliage, on the ground, up in trees, in a blind, etc.I have been reading allot of research and litterature regardinghow things will change through retinas the way animals and humans percieve dichromatic and trichromatic vision during different lighting conditions as well as during different seasons. Bottom line is I think we are all learning when certain patterns will out perform others. Im not sure there is a "best" camo pattern for every situation, but there are certainly some that work very well in allotof huntingsituations or conditions.

Andy,
I certainly agree Camo can be very situational. I Love my Predator for a lot of situations, but I can tell you this after receiving my Ultimate Camo a couple of weeks ago I am very impressed and anxious to put it to the test Bowhunting Turkeys in KS.

I can see myself wearing UC in several different setups in "09"

In a tree with little background and clouds, I wear snow camo, MossyOak snow. The white blends with the clouds, had deer look right through me. I do feel strange walking through the woods with white on though, so i usually pack it it instead. A hunter could probably see me better thatn the deer will in that. All being equal though, and a full checkbook, i would have a few different suits too. My "main" camo is a pair of sportsmans guide green bibs, MO fleece jacket and any of a number of hats. i do agree, movement when they are close, wind plays a big roll and you probably do not know how many deer spook from your scent because they are out of eyesight when they "bust" you.

dandbuck,
Your ahead of your time. Scentlok just developed a pattern that is alot like MO winter. They call it VERTIGO. It has even larger chunks of light/dark to break up the outline. Looks alot like the Gray WOLF Intrusion treeline pattern, only even larger chunks of contrasting light/dark. You might feel silly walking through the woods, but MAN it breaks up your outline.

I started wearing ASAT 12 years ago. Everyone thought I was nuts. It really worked though. Then I bought some Predator Fall gray about 8 years ago. I definitely like the open patterns. I just bought some Intrusion and am excited to see how it works.

Check out the pics of :

Let's throw a stick in the spokes.

Scenario: I'm an American Indian before Europeans arrived. I killed all the animals in the forest, all the while wearing nothing but a loin cloth, and carrying a stick bow. Oh yeah lets not forget the feather in my hair.

Scenario: Make a time machine. Go back in time and deliver compound bows to the Indians.
(Now sit back and wonder...WHAT IF???)
