I never even heard of hunting like that. I personally wouldn't do it since I enjoy getting out and hiking the outdoors and seeing all the terrain. Most the areas I hunt treestands wouldn't work so you spot and stalk for the game. I guess I could attach a tree stand to a big cactus though, but the climb would be hell.

First off I don't hunt that way either.
But who says you have to sit on a frozen stump, with a thin cushion, getting soaked in the rain, with no food, shaking with chills....to call it "hunting".
It's not for me, but my 68 year old dad might like the pace. To each his own.

Blinds is a cheap way of hunting unless it is a youngen or an elder...i shot all of my deer from 20 yards or less on a little 3 legged stool, with a shotgun with bead sights on it. Thats a challenge

If you want to get real, why do you still hunt from a stand? I shot a nice 7 pointer this year sitting on a bucket on the ground, sitting in front of some dead fall trees. Not even a blind or cloth put up, nothing. BUT, I would still say I was just sitting in the woods waiting.
To me, the ulimate, real hunt would be to find deer tracks and follow them and track down the deer, sneak up on it, and shot it with a bow. That would be really challenging.
So what if someone sits on the ground, on a bucket, in a stand, in a blind, in a box, or a heated box? Sure, the heated, enclosed stand will let you sit there longer, or more comfortably, but its not that much different than you sitting in your tree stand. Sure, you must be more careful of movement, but thats about it.

Your mind is like a parchute. It works alot better when it is open.
If it is legal in their area, don't bash them. We all live in differnt cultures and what is ethical in my area might not be in yours. The hunter has to do what is legal and what they fell is ethical. Not what we feel is ethical.

I think down here in the South you just about have to use a treestand or a tree climber. If you were using a bucket here you couldn't see through all the bushes. It is also just about all flat ground here.I have hunted in Missouri and in West Virginia and if you get on some of the hills on the ground or on a bucket it is just like being in a treestand. I think it is hard to tell what is right or wrong in how someone hunts unless they look at the whole situation. When I hunted in Missouri it was on the edge of a big cornfeild and that was considered legal. When I got there I thought that was crazy because the deer were trashing it. It looked like they wasn't much corn to harvest after they got through. I seen plenty of deer and even got a nice buck. But some people would prob consider that as baiting because the deer were definately coming to it. But I just like to hear how people hunt just to know that they are hunting! I also agree, if it's legal I am behind you 100%.
