If your hunting woods that you know hold big deer and the guy down the ridge pops a fork and fills his tag doesn't thatleave the big one for you or is the effect cumulative

I know science would not support but it makes weak sense..

But how much better it would be 4 yrs from now if the guy down the ridge would pop a doe!

OK here's what baffles me. In a lot of areas a 3 to 4 year old would be a trophy in most peoples eyes. It blows me away that people can't wait a few years. Those that argue that they don't care would have to sacrifice just a little. Then after that everyone wins. The guy that don't care will start shooting bigger bucks because they will be there. Then there are those that argue that older bucks don't taste as good. They could shoot a doe for the table. It amazes me that people aren't willing to make such a small sacrifice to gain so much. I also believe that it's better for the deer herd to have a balanced sex ratio and a more balanced age class structure.

I agree...unfortunately many people just HAVE to get their buck every year.

How about the ones that say they are a meat hunter...but they pass on doe's so they can shoot young bucks?

I know it doesn't make sense but if everyone in your woods is shooting small bucks doesn't that leave the smarter more mature bucks for you?

I saw bigger deer this year than I ultimately killed so they are still out there for someone else.
Nice thought.... but it doesn't work that way. LOL
