Default small rack - big trophy

Sorry to those that saw this in the bowhunting forum, but its a deer and I can't help but show it off.
I've shot a much bigger buck but this one is special because its the 1st living thing I ever shot at with my bow. Got him from a pallet in a tree on sunday. I didn't bait but he's in a harvested soybean field. He made it 40yrds from the shot, I climbed down from the tree and there he was.

Nice buck. The first with a bow usually hooks you for life.

How far did he go with that shot? Did he bleed A lot? how long did it take you to find him? I only ask because i took a kid out bow hunting and he hit a deer in the same spot and we couldn't find it.

Deer-hunter18, he only went 40yrds, there was a good blood trail but not from the wound, he was coughing it up because I hit a lung. He had expired when I reached him 5min after the shot, but I'm sure he was dead sooner than that.

Congratulations of a great buck!! In my opinion, any deer killed with a bow would be a GRAND trophy to me!!! I have a great respect for bowhunters!

nice deer! i have just one recommendation....next time shoot a little further back to get the perfect shot....not sure if that was where you were aiming or what but like deer_hunter18 said, that shot might not but the best in the future

Legacy357, you're right, I got lucky, I aimed further back but it was really windy and my stand was swaying back and forth (plus I was shaking).
Cardeer, I was wearing the lucky charm you sent me, thanks so much.
