Rage customer service

So I sit down to replace blades on a bunch of my 2blade heads, today.....and I get the screw stripping thing I hear a lot of people talk about on a few heads. I was also able to replace a few.

So....I call Rage and talk to "Jenny". I tell her my issue....and she says "send 'em back. We'll replace them for you." I offer to send her the replacement blades (I have them, here) and she just says "Nope....we'll replace those from here."

I told her I'd wait 'til the end of the season and try to make sure I'd identified all of them....and could send one batch.

"Fine"!

Now how do you beat that?

Why pick a fight out of nothing? My daddy? How many guys do you know that registered a business with their local city and county at 17 years old? Honestly, there are still kids out there who work for most of what they have. My parents do me great, but I work for the majority of my stuff, and am damn proud of it. Ive been mowin yards for 8 years now, its bought mea truck, all the hunting gear I could ask for, and the freedom to not have to work for a chain store/fast food. Not claiming to be rolling in the dough, Im a drop in the ocean when it comes to lawncare around here, my goal for next year is to bump it up to $15k gross.
Its cool to play the age card, just don't lump me in with the rest of my lazy "gimme" attitude peers, because you couldn't be farther off.

I don't know that Jeff meant to pick a fight. I don't know that though.

However, that's impresseive to hear. That's also coming from someone your age. ;)

I work for all my hunting gear and all my "toys". I love my job, I work at an archery shop. I have had handouts though, and I'm grateful for it. I don't depend on it though.

I love the age card too :D

The age card was played.....because at 17yrs....you don't have a clue about what good customer service v bad is. When you've been in the business world a few years you'll know what I'm talking about. That isn't a slam on anyone. It's life.

I'm happy you're somewhat self-sufficient, Trevor. My son, too, mows a few yards for his spending money. I know. I bought his lawn mower. I bought his leaf blower. "His" business, I suppose....but ....well....you know;).

So you've bought a truck and all your hunting gear on less than $15K gross? What's your profit margin? Expenditures?

My son only knows he gets $50 to do the neighbor's yard. He doesn't think about the cost of equipment/fuel/maintenance/TIME/etc....

So when a teenager talks to me about customer service (really, Trevor....you couldn't have just let it go???).....I have to guffaw. I tried to pick no fight with you. I pointed out your naivety. That's all. It's naive to think a company has NO issues requiring good customer service.

I meant no disrespect to the generation .......heck I don't know what you guys call yourselves.

Just can't give it up, I guess not when some guy from NC brings in a begging daddy statement out of nowhere.....I had to register as a business this past summer because my operation got bigger than expected. No big deal, 300 dollars and I am in business.....I bought my own trailer, i bought my mower, my blowers, my trimmers, all the extras....out of pocket.I pay formy business license as do I my mowing insurance. My first truck was boughtby mydad 2 years ago. When I traded up this past summer, i traded it in and put $9k out of my bank account to getmy current truck. So i guess I really only own 2/3 of it. Profit margin, haven't sat down to figure up this year. Ill sit down with the tax man come April to figure that one for you. To be honest, it will be rather high, despite higher fuel costs this summer. Thats the good thing about mowing, you make loot for relatively easywork. I do well enough to not have to ask daddy for something when I want it, I go buy it. btw, Ive never made $15k, thats my expected goal for 2009.

Like I said, I don't live on my own.I dont pay for the majority of my meals. I don't buy my everyday clothing. Therefore, I am not self sufficient. Next year though, the University will buy my meals, and my housing, and heck..all expenses related to school. I will also have a state scholarship check written in my name for $2500 for my first 4 years of school to do with however I please (going to Alaska this next year with my first one), because I busted my ass to get where I wanted to be....and that is paid to go to college. Ill be going into my freshman year with enough hours to qualify as a sophomore.

What is wrong with the statement "A company that doesn't need to utilize their customer service program is better than a company that offers good customer service"? Im no economist, and haven't been in the business world enough to live up to your standards, but even I can see that this is common sense.

Now that you know some more about me, do I pass the test to atleast earn enough respect from you to NOT be classified as a lazy teenager? I hate talking about myself like that cause it just comes off as macho bragging BS, but why keep calling me out on something you have absolutely no freakin clue about? Im glad your son mows his neighbors yard with your mower, really am...just don't think his situation covers anybody else his age that works.

Let's break your business down.

Is your last name Iacocca? You're a freakin' financial WHIZ!

What is wrong with the statement "A company that doesn't need to utilize their customer service program is better than a company that offers good customer service"?
What's wrong with it is why I said what I did to you in the first place. It's NAIVE to think you'll never need to have good customer service....because your product is that infallable. THAT'S showing your age. You could have easily "let it go"....but you rarely miss the chance;).

If you don't want to sound like a naive kid......resist the urge, somtimes. Sometimes when you open your mouth.....you remove all doubt.

BTW....congrats on getting paid to go to college. I did the same thing. Really cool. I played baseball. What are you playing?

BTW....congrats on getting paid to go to college. I did the same thing. Really cool. I played baseball. What are you playing?
LOL yes, I saved money before hand and used it to buy equipment outright. my bow was bought in 2006, my gun in 2005..believe it or not, by me. My truck came from money I have been saving since 9. I opened a bank account back then (under dads name then), and deposited whatever i earned mowing all the way until i got my license...it added up.

Fuel, insurance, taxes, equipment maintenance, licenses....all just expenses, minimal to what you make. One or two of your invoices will pay for ALL expenses, in my case, so everything else is basically just money in pocket. Mowing makes crazy money, its ridiculous how much people pay for others to mow their yard.

I didn't say you won't have to utilize customer service, just said it would beat having to use it.

But its all good, Im sick and tired of explaining myself and being crusified for being one of the few of todays youth who try and work for what they have. Thanks, I am still stoked about the college. I didn't go the sports route, I used my brain to get where I am...but we won't go into that, it doesnt jive with the whole naive theme we have going. To be completely honest, I dont really care what you believe, or think of me. I know where I am going in life, and Im not looking back. I dont need the approval of a 44 year old man name calling a 17 yo, nor do I need to post rebuttals with name calling of my own.

Sorry for yet another bickering on the boards guys, but I am done. Its ridiculous on both of our parts. I apologize on my part, and it won't happen again.

Back to Rage, good customer service. sucks the issue existed in the first place. Glad it worked out.
