I learned why its called hunting and not killing tongiht.

I was listening to some twigs snaping in front of me and then all the sudden hear footsteps behind me. I turn and there is deer right there, 15 yards away. It was behind some brush so i drew on it. While its standing there, a shot gun went off across the street. This deer didnt run at this time but was pretty tense. Well i have been holding on this deer for about a minute now. It starts walking into a shooting lane and when it gets there i make a lil noise to get to stop, the deer bolts like a bat out of hell after just a little noise to stop it. I dont know if i made the noise too loud or it was just scared from the shot gun blast. Notice that im hunting real close to roads and what not. Well it was good expierence and i learned how my body will react to deer that close. (it starts shaking)

I would imagine with Turkey season going on right now might get a few of then deer on edge when there hearing shooting. That would suck to have that happen. Hope the next encounter works out better for you.

Ya sometimes you can blow it trying to get them to stop. Personally I have never had one bolt on me after giving a mahhhh. I think she was just real worried about the gunshot and booked when she heard a strange noise so close.
