I've used the bag with no success. It's the one with the woods dowels.
Gonna bring real ones out this year. They sound noticably different to me.

Nontypical Buck
I figure bucks fight with real horns so why not use the real thing. I use the antlers of an eight point I shot a couple years ago. Just cut the brow tines off, those things can leave a finger pretty sore[:@]. I've had pretty good success. Usually rattle in 1 - 3 bucks a year.

Ive used bags with success, real antlers with success, and artificial antlers with success. I think the key is to be very limited in how much you use them.

Real Antlers - have a bag and it is convenient to carry- but do not like the sound near as good as the antlers.

Giant Nontypical
I think if a buck is going to come in to rattling it doesn't matter if you're using linkin' logs to rattle with. I use the real thing, but they are a pain in the butt to carry quietly and climb a tree with.

I've used a bag with decent success. I personally don't think a deer is going to be able to tell a big difference at a distance.
One thing I like about the rattle bags is that its somewhat difficult to make them really loud. To me, this may sound more like two small bucks fighting or sparring instead of two bigger racked bucks. I don't think you run the risk of spooking as many bucks this way. When I use them, I try to sound more like a couple of small six points fighting instead of really banging them loudly.

I have a small set of Antlers, I took from one of the deer that I shot. I also have a rattle bag, but while they do imitate the sound pretty good, they are not the exact same.
