Default BlackHawk Custom Vapor Arrows

Well guys,

This evening I was getting ready to order my arrows. I was down to two choices the Beman ICS Hunter 340' s or the BlackHawk Vapor 4000' s.

Well........ I decided to give the BlackHawk Vapors a try. They have a better rating in consistency and accuracy compared to the Bemans, plus, if I don' t like them, I can always buy a dozen Bemans and use the BlackHawks this summer to keep those darn rabbits out of my garden.

I ordered the BlackHawk Vapor 4000' s with 4" Dura-Vanes set at a 4 degree right helical. They are being wrapped in an American Flag EZE Crest, and the vane colors are going to be red, white, and blue. I asked for white nocks, but, David Eder (I ordered them from www.eders.com) said that he would try to get them, but, it isn' t a guarentee because most shafts he recieves already have nocks when they come to him.

I can' t wait to get those babies. I recieved one of my two stabilizers that I am buying this year. I got my 7" Doinker Stealth Hunter today and O.M.G...... the difference this thing made was astonishing. I was always saying that my pro-shop tech guy (John) had the most shock free and quiet bow that I hade ever shot (03 BowTech Patriot), well, now, my bow has the same shock (none exsistant), and, it actually is quieter (and I don' t have all my Simms Products on it, I still need to get my Simms String Leech' s, Simms Mini (Accessory) Limb Savers, and my Simms Stabilizer Enhancer on it. Plus, it is still going to be faster than his Pat.

So, hopefully, this weekend, I will have my arrows and be ready to head to my pro-shop to get the rest of my accessories put on and to paper tune, then group tune my bow. After that, my McKenzie better watch out because I am going to knock the midsection of that baby out.

I am also planning on putting the bow through the chrono to see what kinda speed I am getting with it set-up with everything. I was getting 244 f.p.s. out of my 2002 Hoyt MT Sport with everything on it and using 394.4 grain Beman ICS Hunters. I am expecting to be getting in the upper 270-mid 280 f.p.s. range. Which will be perfectly fine with me because that is still ALOT faster than my previous bow, and, this bow is lighter, more shock free, better balanced, ALOT quieter, ect.....

Well, I am going to go surf the web and try to get a little sleep (tommorow is my day off, heck, I might head down to the pro-shop tommorow).

P.S. If you can' t tell, I AM PUMPED UP!!!!!!!!!

I use Blackhawk vapor 300. Very smooth shaft and they fly straight.

Good luck with them BM. Though my experiences with the Blackhawks have been somewhat less than favorable I eagerly await hearing your experiences with them.

Hey Frank,

What have your experiences with them been like? What problems have you had with them?

They seem to be very good, high quality arrows. I read the independant study done by Petersons Bowhunting magazine, and, these arrows came out in third place. They were up against Eeaston Redlines and other expensive arrows and still got that position. Also, I really like their straightness factor. I believe it is .003" , plus, a grain difference of 2.5 grains.

Like I said, if I don' t like them, I will just get some more Bemans ICS Hunters and use these to control the rabbits that get in my garden each summer.

BM,

Their straightness and weight tolerance was very good but I had an issue with their durability. Now, I have shot quite a few different ICS carbons and at least one from every brand ended up bending on me when I removed them from a Mckenzie type target. When I say " bend" I mean that one of the inner layers of carbon ends up breaking thus giving the arrow less support and allowing it to bend even though there is no perceivable crack on the outside layers of carbon. The problem was that with the Blackhawks I had more of the individual shafts bending than I did any other brand.

Keep an eye on it. If you keep some slick lube or a bar of ivory soap handy then you may not have a problem.
