Default Switching Bows- Couple Questions

Hello everyone- Many of you may know that I shoot a crossbow (gasp, tisk-tisk) and am a strong advocate of crossbows and am darn proud to shoot one. I began hunting with one 4 years ago to get in the woods more often cause we were living in two different housesand 'introduce myself to bowhunting' cause eventually I wanted to take up a compound. But a weightlifting accident and too many pitches in a baseball tournament kept me with the crossbow a little while longer.

But times have a changed and next spring Im probably going to be purchasing my brothers bow off him (Bowtech TomKat) and I have a couple questions I wanted to ask right off the top of my head.

A) As stated before I hurt myself lifting weights. Long story short- I did a lot of shoulder work, tried to max out on the bench and my right shoulder gave and I did something to some joint in the shoulder. Anyway- I've tried drawing my brothers bow and feel as if I can do so starting at a 60;b draw. But once I get to the break point my shoulder wants to pop out and back in again. I can come to full draw- it just doesn't feel the best So, question: Do you guys do, know or point me in the right direction of some shoulder strengthening and loosening exercises that would allow me to strengthen the muscles needed to draw the bow.

B) With my crossbow, I use Horton Hunter broadheads. They are the G5 Striker but Horton bought the name or rights or license or something to rename them to increase their sales. Anyway, I absolutely love them. They fly true and stick hard and my question is, in an attempt to save some loot, is: Can I use these 'crossbow heads' when shooting a compound. Again, I would bet the farm that they are the G5 Striker and I screwed one into one of my brothers arrows the other day and there was no issue there. So what do you guys think about continued use of these?

Sorry for the long post, thanks for readin and I appreciate all your info!

RockinChair, here are a few links to illustrated examples of exercises that I believe target and strengthen the muscles used to draw, steady, and shoot a bow. Note that you may perform any of the following exercises with either barbells, a bar, or cables. Dumbells and bars will add mass along with strength. Cables willadd strength with less mass.

Front Raises: http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/DeltoidAnterior/CBFrontRaise.html
Front Raises: http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/DeltoidAnterior/DBFrontRaise.html- These front raises will help with stabilizing the bow

Lying row: http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/DeltoidPosterior/DBLyingRearDeltRow.html
Seated One-Arm Row: http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/DeltoidPosterior/CBOneArmRearDeltRow.html- Exercises that involve a rowing motion will help you with the draw

Arnold Press: http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/DeltoidAnterior/DBArnoldPress.html- This is a good exercise to strengthen those muscles on the top of the shoulder and around your lateral andanterior deltiods. This will add strength and stability to your sholders. This will also make them look good

In addition to shoulder exercises, I would also suggest you add some back exercises to your routine. See a list at this link: http://www.exrx.net/Lists/ExList/BackWt.html. I also like dips. They are great for addressing the outer pectoral muscles as well as the shoulders and upper/middle back. You will get the best results from them if you do them in high reps, so you may like assisted dips during your buildup period. See an example here: http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/PectoralSternal/AsChestDip.html.As far as the back goes, I would focus on those exercises that target the upper and mid back, but don't ignore the lower back as it will assist you in keeping proper form. I

Holler if you have more questions. Good luck with your transition.

You're probably right on the broadheads; I haven't examined them closely to confirm your suspicions but if they screw into your ferrules of your arrow shafts properly there should be no problem. I'd spin-test them to make sure there were no alignment issues with the head or the insert, and if no wobble was detected then you ought to be good to go to at least start the tuning process.
