Default Mock Licking Branches

Does anyone have experience with mock-lickin branches? Mainly- how to construct them. There are several areas where I'd like to experiment with one this coming weekend. Thanks for any help!

I have taken a plastic zip tie, and attached a branch to a branch that is allready there. Otherwise i just try to find a spot where there is allready a low hanging branch, and make a scrape under that.

Thanks for the info. Now, what about the scrape. Are you just scraping out a bear spot (just like a deer would) under the branch and just leaving it be, or are you adding any kind of scent or anything to give it some flare. Reason being, how would a deer distinguish the difference between a bear spot in the ground or an active scrape with a licking branch?

I use mock scapes alot. Once i have a location where i want to put one, i take a stick and scrape the ground just like a deer would. You need to have the licking branch over the scape. I then take a leak in the scrape and normally the deer will do the rest. ill keep freshening up the scrape each time i hunt around it.

If the mock licking branch is on a trail, the deer will automatically stop and examine it regardless of what is under them. Mr. Alsheimer says that mock licking branches are an excellent way to stop a deer on a well scouted trail for just the shot you want at the location you have chosen.
