I would have a VERY hard time as a sporting goods store clerk right now here in PA (FL). I'd be handing out sack punches like they were buy one get one free.
You feel my pain. Don't I wish I could hand out sack punches. The closer it gets to opening day the more of these idiots there are rushing to get into the woods. We startOctober 18th down hereand I have people that haven't taken their bows out of the closet for years coming to measking me to "get them tuned up" so they can be in the woods opening morning. I bet it sucks for some of these guys when their parts aren't in before the season starts.

Matt, I had to grit my teeth all through this last August. You wouldn't believe the sales that were made the week before opener. [&:]

good one matt!

I know what you guys mean. I know a guy who never practices and doesnt even get his bow out all year till the day he goes hunting. He smokes and gets gas, etc. in his hunting clothes. One time and I am not kidding, I talked him into going to the range and practicing with me.

The backboards are like five feet by five feet with an animal target on the front. At 15-20 yds. he was lucky if he hit the animal target half of the time with probly 1/4 th of them missing the animal completely and the other 1/4 missing the entire backstop completely. I couldnt believe it. I tried and tried to help him and explain things to him and try to get him to practice. I even gave him a pack of $30 broadheads cause he was using the $7 walmart specials. I eventually quit talking to him all together cause I just couldnt take it anymore.

He also told me that he doesnt worry about his scent cause deer cant smell!

I say Matt should give him a sack punch! LOL!

Matt, I have made a practice to stay out of the place as much as possible before in the last two weeks. (this coming from a guy who doesn't know how to get home from work without stopping thereor at Dick's. I wish to be dubbed a Knight to the King of the Sack Punchers, so that I will have the proper deputization to dole out proper punishment to ill prepared, evil doing, unethical, misrepresenting, and unlawfulsportsmen everywhere. Man, if I had the King of the Sack Puncher's letter of Marque I would rid the world of guys like you saw and I see. I have made a considerable effort this year to make sure every single guy that is hunting at my family's cabin came down a few times and shot with me at my house. A few, including my brother, had been subscribing to the pie plate mentality. All were surprised at what some proper tuning, now known as "RobBenizing" (mostly Rob) and practice can do.
So no, I wouldn't make it as a clerk either bud. Please let me know on my impending Knightship. Thank you.

I'm surprized the big stores don't use better judgement. Dicks down the road sells decoys, cracked corn, stump lickers, all illegal in this state. The problem is two fold for the consumer I.E. ignorance of the law andknowingly breaking it. Guys who don't read the abstacts could unknowingly break the law just because the stuff is on the shelve. Not that ignorance of the law is any excuse.

Keep in mind that for the most part the members of this forum don't represent most hunters. It's a year round sport for many of us and a two week sport for the majority of hunters. Can you even imagine picking up your bow for the first time the day before the opener?

So why does the store sell C' Meer deer? Out of state hunters maybe?

Kind of like fireworks...You can buy them in most states but you can't legally use them there...
