Here's the buck I took Monday night, and it has got a case of cantaneous fibromas, aka deer warts. I'd heard of it before, and seen pictures of them, but had never seen one up close and personal. They are pretty rude looking. I guess they get them from having an open wound and rubbing the wound against another deer (or vegetation that has been rubbed by a deer) that has the infliction. Mostly occours in bucks, that are scarred up from battling.

I actually just saw one last week that my buddy shot. I dont know if it messes up the meat but when he skinned it, the warts were superficial. If you were to look at the inside of the skin you would never know that there were warts on the outside. He kept the meat so i will find out if it was ok. i took pics and planned on showing them to the Game Warden to see if he could tell me about it.
