Dan, as someone who follows and looks forward to your posts, I've seen you hint about this before, never telling the story, only saying one day you would. I'm glad you did, it is scary how quickly things can be taken from us. Those 3,4,5, major events that mold who we are, and what we become, are sometimes great moments and sometimes moments of sheer terror. They all play a part though.

Thanks for sharing and we are all thankful for the outcome. Peace Brother!

I never understood the idea behind "sound shots".

My boss told me a story about one of his hunting trips that is a bit scary.
He was sitting in his tree stand when he hears some noise to his right, out of the bush come a doe. He hears some more noise coming right behind her, and thinks that it must be a buck following her, so, he lift his gun and aims in that direction waiting for his big buck to come after the doe, and out come a hunter. I always tells people that if you aren't sure that there isn't anyone behind the deer or your are not sure that it is a deer, don't shoot, there are lots of deer out there, it's not worth risking it and possibly injuring a fellow hunter.

I'm sorry to hear about what happened to you Dan. Glad your OK though.

Had to be very very scary. You have an anniversery date coming up real soon. Hope you are able to deal with better and better with each passing year.
Do any of you old timers remember who it was that got shot and almost died? Was it mountinman maybe? Forgive me if that wasn't who it was. It also was a gripping tale.
