I've shot the hunting head a lot. A friend of mine gave me a free pack that he got for Christmas because he didn't like mechs so with extras i thought that i would dedicate one to target and it flies exactly the same as the practice head.

Let me get this straight. You're shooting a broadhead that's suppose to be God's gift to the bowhunting community.(at least that's what everyone tells us here) And yet, no one dares shoot it into a piece of foam for fear of damaging it. I'm sorry, but I find that as dumb as it gets. If the thing is that flimsy, why would you buy it to begin with. There are so many broadheads that shoot just as well and will blow through deer, targets and just about anything you shoot them at... again and again. Afraid to shoot a piece of foam, I'm sorry.... that's not something I'd want to carry in my quiver. I don't care if they've killed bronze elephants.
Well David thats how I am. Even when I shot Muzzy's for every year previous, I shot 1 or more into my target and they NEVER went to the woods with me. I don't want to risk perhaps the shot of a lifetime on a broadhead that's been previously shot and some-what dulled in that process. Can I resharpen them? Sure, factory sharp? Nope and honest enough to admit it!
Exactly Dmil, it's the ONE SHOT RULE. NEVER hunt with a broadhead that's been shot, even once unless the blades are resharpened or replaced. That's what he's referring to, it won't damage it, it's being ethical and not dulling the blades.

I agree with the one shot rule. Every hunting arrow I have has it's own broadhead. It's tested, shot at 20,30 and 40. That's why they make replacement inserts. Once I'm satisfied with it I put on new inserts and put it in the quiver. A broadhead target isn't going to ruin a head. New inserts are ready to go. To trust that the thing is perfect and straight and will flycorrectlyfrom the factory is more of a sin than changing the inserts. He said he was afraid of ruining it shooting into a target and ruining it. He didn't say he didn't want to replace the blades. When I buy a new set of broadheads I go ahead and buy a new set of inserts at the same time because I know I'll use them before the arrow goes in my hunting quiver or arrow case for the extras. I start every season with at least a dozen arrows tuned and loaded.

I've probably got 25 heads (including 6 paractice heads). I've shot them both (practice and actualBH's)and see no differenc ein flight characteristics. I practice solely with the practice heads becasueof these findings. I shot a few of theactual heads, last night.....andthese were heads I will be replacing blades on, anyways.

NO difference in flight (not discernable, by me).
