I can see how the booby trap in controversial but I don't see why is shouldn't be pissed that people are coming onto private land, THAT IS POSTED, and stealing property. I just don't get it, ya he took it to far when he made the comment about the deer stand strap but I don't see why everyone is trying to make the theft and trespassing issues his fault. I would be furious if I went out to get ready to hunt and found my gear stolen, or someone sitting in my stand. My family has worked hard to get permission to hunt on the section of land that we use and for some one to just assume that the "Posted" signs are put up for everyone but them is just stupid.
It seems like a lot of people just have no respect for private property, they figure if they don't get caught than there is nothing wrong with it. When I hear comments like Stormy's about the "Jersey sneak" and other crap like that it makes me look at them the same way I look at poachers.
I guess it comes down to this... Breaking the law is breaking the law, whether it be trespassing, booby trapping, or poaching.

But then you have the majority of hunters (here anyway)that would willingly trespass through signs, disrespecting your property ownership, to get their deer that they shot.

On a side note, a few people have mentioned the trespassing to recover a deer scenario. This may not apply to everyone but after a long talk with a local DNR officer he suggested that if you can't find the property owners or they are out of town or if they deny you the right to get the deer, call the DNR if its the first two, they will ****** you onto the property to retrieve the deer, in the last case they will go and talk to the land owner and if they still refuse to let you get the deer they will inform the land owner that they must go and retrieve the deer and dispose of it or they can be charged with wanton waste.
We may just be lucky here in southern Illinois and have a nice DNR officer but it can't hurt to make a phone call to the local DNR and find out how they would handle this situation, most of the time they are more than willing to help as long as your polite and trying to follow the law.

Maybe in your state, Jason.
It's not that way in every state (though it is in mine).
I also find it ludicrous that someone could potentially be charged with Wanton Waste for an animal they didn't kill!

The only way they could be charge, at least how it was explained to me, was if the property owner knew the deer was dead on his property but would not let the hunter harvest it. Then because of his decision the animal is being wasted.

Um, it was posted, always has been.
And go ahead- try it.
The farmer doesnt have permission because thats how it is. He cannot hunt it nor can he grant someone permission.
Either way you look at it- its NJ, thats what it boils down too.
This dude isnt going to get hurt, but he will get the "message".
Thankfully the new security team on this site is actually doing their work...
Trust me- I'd rather catch these guys myself and have a normal conversation with them and explain to them the situation. I spent most of today talking wtih bordering business and property owners in an attempt to cut off the areas these trespassers are parked.
DT your a loose cannon. I never heard of No Limits Outdoors, but if you are a ProStaffer for them you make a poor representative for them.
I grew up in Jersey, Hunted Jersey and still hunt Jersey. I believe the law is if its not posted then you can hunt it. So all those "scum" were NOT trespassing. As far as blaming your stupidity on the US Marine Corps for "mess'in" you up. .....Its a disgrace.
I think it is pretty unrealistic to leave sets up in the limited huntable woods of NJ and think they are not going to be messed with. I would love to know where this is so I could do the Jersey sneak and bust one of "your" bucks .......Just to piss you off.
I am 45 and been doing to Jersey sneak for 20 plus years, you wouldnt even know I was there. Oh and thanks for your service .....but understand Brother......your not the only vet in the woods.

Please tell me this property isn't in Morris County

He will most definitly have to step onto the shooters stand to pull the camera stand, first...Lets just say, the strap around the shooter stand MIGHT be compromised...
*EDIT*- I'd just better remember to bring the "good" strap with me before I go to wit it..Haha

If all goes as planned- I'll catch this guy because he will be laying on the ground under the stand...
First off- Read my last post- only his pride will be hurt. he isnt going to get physically messed up.
Let me shed some light on the "situation"- these guys could be shot on sight, legally....Obviously not by myself or my friends- but they could and it would be within the law.
Oh, and dont blame it on my parents- the governmentmessed me up in the head

Honestly, the stand isnt rigged to fail- so you guys need to relax...The property is posted and each sign reads that there is hunting in progress by persons with permission.
