Sorry, bad post

Think of all the other things that could happen before the 2 poachers get to him. Hit by a car, attacked by a pack of coyotes, die of a disease, get locked up with another buck. Does this call for the reason to get them before any of this would happen? No!!! Seasons are set and if you do otherwise no matter what the "could happens" are then you're a poacher.

Unfortunately he did join the poacher side of the fence. You can't justify taking a buck out of season no matter what the circumstances. I know where he is coming from , it happens in my part of NY all the time...but it still doesnt make it ok. Hopefully he uses better judgement in the fututre or he may find himself in handcuffs and paying some heavy fines.

Am I the only one who is going to say it?............. I hope that somebody from around your area reads this and gets in contact with the authorities and reports you and your buddy. Your buddy is pathetic for having that train of thought and going through with it.
Here is something I will never understand, why would somebody come onto a website such as this one and talk about their buddy committing a crime? Do they think that nobody will report it or that there is no chance of the authorities reading it? Look what happened last year, a kid on this board shot a buck with a rifle in a bow zone and somebody from the boards contacted the authorities in that area and the kid was busted for poaching

Love to know if this person even feels bad for doing this. Likely he did not even tag it so when he takes another buck later this season.. he will be breaking the law twice.
I think he should turn himself in to the commission. Not an easy thing to do however, to prove that he understand it was wrong and to redeem himself, it is the only thing he can do. If not, every deer he takes from now till he stops hunting will be questioned. Was it shot in the dark, before season, after season, etc. No reason not to question. You break the law and don't get caught...why not do it again?
A buddy on mine did something similar. He has obeyed the law all his hunting life. While on a job site in a non-hunting development, he saw a monster buck. Largest in his life. He could not resist, grabbed his bow, walked up to the buck that was crazed with the rut, and shot him. He actually never found the deer. People make bad judgments to which I don't understand. Hunting is a sport and challenge. You bag a big buck great! If not, that is why there is a next season.
How can anyone be proud of taking game out of season, in a non-hunting area, etc?

Watching a deer all summer doesn't entitle you to anything. It is sad when somebody wants a deer that bad, it's called "Greed". Your buddy just leap frogged those other guys.

Know a friend that watched a buck all summer. About two weeks before season, noticed two guys (known poachers and tresspassers) watching this buck from the road. Saw them a couple of times over the next week so decided to go get the buck before they decided to do something stupid. Four days before season started he went and got the buck. Went to his stand and made a perfect shot at 30 yards. I didn't disagree with his decision. I know the guys that were watching the deer and they will use rifles during bow. Since it was his place exclusively and he took it fair chase I couldn't say anything bad to him about it.
Aware now that wrong is wrong and should not have tried to be sympathetic!

kinda sad and I have the same concerns about a deer being poached. Doesn't mean I am going to go in a tree this afternoon and shoot the deer - that is complete disrespect in my opinion and a shameful act certainly nothing to be proud of
