How many deer?

It did depend on the specific county that you were in here in PA. Up until this upcoming season there were basically two areas....special reg areas (around Philly and Pittsburgh) and the rest of the state. Most, if not all of the counties in the special reg areas had unlimited doe tags while the rest of the counties had specific allocations of doe tags dependent on herd size estimations. Here in my home county of Lehigh we have had the opportunity to apply for the standard buck tag which comes with the license....one regular doe tag and up to two " bonus" or " surplus" doe tags. That is typical for most of the state provided allocations do not run out after the first or second round of doe tag allocations.
So, it could be as little as 2 tags..a buck and a doe, for some counties with low levels of deer and plenty of hunters or as high as..as many as you can apply for in the special reg areas but always just one buck tag per licensed hunter.
That is going to be changing for the 2003-2004 season though...as I understand it. We are going to wildlife management zones that are somewhat geographical in nature. They will overlap into different counties.

Todd, I' m not sure but I thought Alabama is two deer a day, only one can be a buck ? I.E, you can kill two does or a buck and a doe .
South Carolina is giving me a headache with all the zones , tags , and split up doe days !!! [8D]

In Missouri, we receive two " normal" archery tags (good for buck or doe), and five " anterless only" archery tags. We can purchase up to three rifle tags (good for one buck and two does, or three does). So...if you want, you can take 10 deer, plus more if you hunt any of the Conservation Dept. managed hunts. I think I had 13 deer tags a couple years ago.
P.S. I don' t fill that many tags. I took four this year, and four last year.

Boy, there are a lot large sized limits. Here in NY we have a short season to begin with. We can take one either sex deer with a bow license. Then you can apply for two additional doe tags. Last year was the first that you could use the does tags for the whole bow season. One other thing you could do is use a bow during shotgun season and take an additional buck.
I generally stay out of the woods however during shotgun season.

Hee Hee, I figured it out last year, in Va. you can kill 2 deer a day during the season, if you killed 2 deer a day every day of the archery, blackpowder and gun season you could kill 3 bucks and over 100 doe legally! You would have to buy extra doe tags to do this though.

Indiana - 10 is the max by bow.
Had to go back and check on the Urban Zones limits. Three antlerless deer and one deer of either sex. This is in addition to all other bag limits.
The 2002 season began a 5 year trial period of the " One Buck" limit. Prior to ' 02 you could take 1 buck by bow and another by either fiream or muzzleloader.
But with the Urban limits, an archer can actually harvest 2 bucks. Hmmm... glad you asked this question, caused me to learn something new.
