Is that just a knot to prevent the prussic knot from sliding off?
Not on mine..Somerimes I go without that Plussiax knot..I simply stand up and put my big loop rope as high as it will go..and pull tightly..

Finally, what type/size rope do you use?
The rope rells you what it's strength it is on the package..Mine is at least 500 lb strengh.I currently have a soft nylon rope, picked for its suppleness, but I am a bit concerned with the 'stretch' that it has, is a stiffer rope preferred even though it doesn't move as well?
My rope is 1/2 inch thick

Yes.

I honestly don't know. The Summit ropeis larger than the Lone Wolf. I like the SUmmit because it's longer and will acommodate a larger dia. tree, though.

I went out and bought some smaller diameter rope today. (The rope was either this color or a nice white and red.....you got a problem with pink? )

Tied the main loop with a figure 8 knot with a stopper knot just below the loop.

Then took a 3foot section of the rope made a loop with a butterfly knot

and tied a prussic knot in the loop

This is what I ended up with:

Rope looks like great quality. Kudos.

Loop it around the tree........connect to your prussic....and you're hunting safe.

Thank you very much the help GMMAT and everyone else that contributed.......

This one has been bugging me all off season, trying to figure out a way to tie off but still have the mobility in the stand that I like.
