I've been shooting since early February with my new Guardian. This will be my first season bow hunting, so I've been pretty much obsessed with learning to shot well. I've read everything I can find about shooting form, techniques, and mental preparation for the shoot. I can consistently shoot 1 inchper 10yd groups out to 40 yards (meaning 2" @ 20 yds, 3" @ 30 yds etc).

I shoot good on the "on pin yardage" distances. My problem comes with hold over/under on the in-between yardages like 26, 34, or 37. My pins are set at 20, 30, 40, and the G5 floating pin for beyond 40.

How do some of you experienced guys approach these shots? Use the higher yardage pin and hold under?...lower yardage pin and hold over? I know how my bow shoots and where to hold, it's just my mind wants to put that pin directly on the spot. Make sense?

Also, do you pick your spot high or low andfocus on that spot knowing your POI will be right? Or, focus on the intended POI and judge the hold/over distance on the pin.

Basically, how do you mentally approach a shot that's not an exact pin set distance?

I normally split the pins, 26yds- I will hold the 20 over and the 30 under and split the differencs in the gap.Let's say I am shooting at a target that is closer to one pin or the other I will lean more towards that pin at farther yardages. Within 30yds I find that splitting the gaps works well enough for my set up....Keep practicing and learn the gaps...I know what you mean about wanting to put it right on the pin but if you can get used to splitting the pins I have found it to work very well...
