Mechanicals heads?
#41
Dan(WH), awesome trail, what head was that, how far did he go? But in reality any well placed shot is going to produce massive blood. I wanna see tissue, lung, heart damage from a fixed head that can compare to a rage style.

Rob, do the main blades on those heads cut at the full-open width? Or do they only really come into action after fully deployed? (the laid back position, if you will)?
Just curious. I have absolutely no experience with mechanicals, but it looks to me like while they are opening they would not yet be cutting. I may be wrong.

Deer went maybe 50 yards before falling and rolling down the hill another 15 - 20.

You're seeing long entrance holes because of the design of the head.
Next time you shoot a deer with a fixed blade head, take a string and lay it around the edge of the entrance/exit holes and measure the length of the string.
Tissue damage is tissue damage. Looks can be deceiving... [&:]

Im understanding what you guys are saying, I really am. But based on photo evidence they "look" unreal. Blood splattered on trees, intestines hanging out, 3" "gashes".
Like I said, I'll have a Striker on my arrow,Likely Rages also. My experience with the Rage head, wasnt glamorous to say the least, I shot him from 37yrds, 65lb draw and busted 2 ribs and stuck in the other side, deer went 200+ yrds. But the evidence Ive "seen" here on this board, speaks for itself.

What I dont get is, and guys Im not against either, but I have yet to see a hole from a fixed blade even somewhat compare to that of the rage/snyper design.
A 4 blade like a slick trick mag or Muzzy MX4with a 1.125" diameterwill cutexactly the sameas a 3 blade 1.5" diameterbroadhead as it would a 2 blade 2.25" broadhead.
Given the same shot on the same animal the results would be virtually the same the only real differance would be the shape of the hole.
Another way to look at is a square (4 blade)thatcovers 2 square inches in area is exactly the same size as a triangle (3 blade)thatcovers 2 square inches in area is exactly the same size as a long rectangle (2 blade)thatcovers 2 square inches in area.
Now assumeall threepenetrate 12 inches of deer they will cut exactly the same amount of tissue on their way through.
