Situational practice.
#11
I'm probably going to get ridiculed by the "pro" staff here, but I just cleaned the dust off my case after the winter.
I only practice for 5-6 weeks before the season.
However, during the season I will shoot my broad head only once, a couple of times per week, as this needs to be a perfect shoot the first time and want to remain honed for the moment of truth...
I start my 5 - 6 weeks of practice by shooting 30-40 arrows with field points, 4-5 days / week to strengthen my chiseled body (chiseled like a KEG - I say!).
After about 2 weeks of this routine, I set my 3d deer target up. I start by putting a 1 " orange circle on the target, taking into cosideration the given shot angle I choose to place the decoy, as this helps train my eye to hit the "best" kill zone from my raised shooting area (about 15'), along with shot angle.
Of course I'll reposition the 3d target to different yardages and angles during my practice, along with shooting from a chair/stool.
I'll practice for another 2 weeks with the 3d target and then move to my 4 broadhead arrows to make sure they are true to their flight for the last week of practice.
