Gold tip arrows
#1
I'm looking into buying some new hunting arrows for the upcoming season. Trying to get around the 350 to 375 total grain area, soIwent onto the gold tip site and built my own arrow. I went with the Expedition Hunter 5575 at 27.5 shaft length and 363 total grains with a front to center balance of 12.51%. Does anyone shoot these arrows and how do you like them? Also, what kind ofspeed and KE would I be getting out of these shooting 64# with a 28"DL?
Thanks

I have shot goldtips for a long time. IMO, they are a very good choice for a hunting arrow. I just purchased a new dozen last night, I looked a bunch of different shafts last night thinking I might try something new, but in the end I went with what has always worked for me. I have never had a problem with them. I am shooting the pro hunters out of my Katera XL with a 29 1/2 DL. My shafts are 372 grains, shooting them at 307fps, I am producing just over 77 foot pounds. With your shorter DL and lower poundage, I took a guess at your speed (260fps), you will be producing right at 55 foot pounds. If you shooting faster than 260fps, it will be higher, if you slower it will be a little less. Either way, pleant of KE to blow thru a deer. They are a great arrow, go with them!

buckeye,
You could probably use the interactive charts on www.bowjackson.com to come up with a speed estimate. The only true way to be accurate is to use a chronograph. As for KE, don't worry about it. Too much is made of this. You have enough bow and arrow to hunt anything on this continent. HE is just a number.
There's nothing wrong with your arrows. They aren't the best made, but they don't cost an arm and a leg either. The GT XT 5575 is the same arrow only a little straighter. Don't fret. It looks like you got the weight you wanted. The spine is good for your setup, the FOC is good. Get everything tuned well and you should be good to go for hunting.

I have never shot them but have friends that do and just yesterday (I hope Ben doesn't read this), bowtechben was up and we tweaked his 101st Airborne and proceeded to shoot a round of B.U.C.K. in my backyard, well unfortunately Ben missed a handful of shots and I was shocked that each time his GT's came out unscathed. They must be pretty tough arrrows. I told Ben yesterday, I'd have no problem shooting GT's.

everyone else seems to like them but i had a set of the pro hunter 5575and they sucked. i had a few that haddents in them and i couldnt get the other ones to fly right in my bow. maybe they were just a bad dozen. i know other people that use them and they love them. i swithed to easton lightspeeds and ive never had an arrow that flew more straight. but if ur wondering about the speed of the gold tips i was getting about 265-270fps on 64lbs on a 28.5 in. draw. i get 280fps with the lightspeeds. hope this helps.

Thanks fellas for all the help. Seems like everyone that I have talked to said thatGT's are one tough arrow and I haven't heard any complaints.
