Misses: Too High, or Too Low?
#11
It depends on why I miss..... when its shooter problems... I miss low...
When I misjudge the distance... its usually high.
Target wise... I have a tendancy to shoot low.... comes from shooting a shotgun my whole life and having to see what I'm shooting at. I tend to float my pin just a hair underneath what I want to hit. Of course I have my pins compensated for this

I've never missed one by shooting under it. I have shot over a few. Hell, I shot over two in one morning. I redeemed myself that afternoon though. I've been deer hunting forabout 30 years and bow hunting about 25 of them.If you bow hunt long enough, you are going to miss. I have not been able to recover three that I know I hit, and guess what? I hit those three a little high.

I once missed a doe at 8 yards from the ground.. perfectly broadside and she had no idea I was there.
I shot like 3 feet over her and smack into a tree.
I was in shock at first.. but have since laughed a great deal at myself.

As for me I've missed one deer in 22 years of bow hunting. Shot over her back with my recurve at 10 yards. I forgot I did hit one bear in the foot also with my compound at 10 yards, my only wound bow hunting. That still ticks me off yet to this day.

due to angles etc....shooting downward outta a treestand, unless you adjust your shot, you should shoot high....that's just gravity/physics....
any angled shot...you shoot high unless you adjust....
should be aiming for the heart anyway.....case they jump the string.....or you shoot high due to the treestand.....still hit lung....

I counted up my misses….That was a painful reminder. I am right about 50/50 high & low (one more high miss than low). One limb deflection, and 2 misses left (don’t ask).

I can't remember shooting under but they sail right over the back when the deer jump the string. I've missed the most due to unseen branches deflecting the arrow.[:@]

I think I have missed 4 deer in my 22 years of hunting, including one with a crossbow. 2 over and 2 under. 3 of them were target panic and one was an honest to goodness misjudged yardage. Boy I hope I don't ever get target panic again. That was a difficult period.

[8D] I too have 1 that wasn't recovered though....[&o]
