well said meanv2 .I live in a state where you have to wear a helmet but less than 10 min. away is a free state . sometimes I wear it but most of the time I don't . for every time an accident saved someone wearing a helmetthere is a time where it didn't

It would be interesting to know the % of those who think helmet laws should exist who actually ride. Usually it is those with the most ignorance who scream for government action, but I am sure that would never be the case here

In PA the law states you must wear a helmet to ride a bicycle on the road ,but for a motorcycle the choice is yours.[:-]
And yet driving a 3500 lb missile down the highway, talking on the cell phone with kids in the back seat screaming is just fine and dandy.

Actually, the only opinion that i am interested in is that of the American Medical Association. But that's just me.[8D]

Full face helmets are supposed to be the safest, yet they reduce your peripheral vision which is rather important. Also, try riding at highway speeds by/around/near a semi with the amazing amount of turbulent air coming off of it. You head actually starts waving around uncontrollably, which in turn can throw you off balance. Half helmets try to lift off your head at highway speeds and the darn chin strap about chokes you.
If you don't ride just get back in your cage and leave me and everyone else who wants to ride the way we do alone. If you've got a problem with it I really don't care. My bills are covered; not that if everyone had to wear a helmet your taxes would go down anyway.
And once again I am guilty of breaking my own rule: Never argue with someone you have to educate first.

Willie exercised his right to not wear a helmet while riding his hog. Now he is a superstar, at taxpayer expense, on the bean bag toss tournament circuit.

Really? So, what is the opinion of the American Medical Association Dr. couche couche?[8D] Let's get real here. Everyone hears horror stories about lives that could have been saved if it wasn't for a helmet. However, you can't tell me anything about it if you have never been there.
