[quoteAnd normally the people that act that like and feel that way are no where near as good as they think they are. Just because you bowhunt doesn't really mean your any good at it. Most of the people I have met that are truly good bowhunters or good at archery do not act that way. It is usually the wanna be bowhunters that think they are better because they refuse to use a gun, and that is the only reason they bowhunt, because they want to feel like they are better than someone else. And some manage to get lucky and kill a deer every now and then.

Paul ][/quote]

Very well said. Seems lots of folksare makingbowhunting a fad. Way too many bow hunters pull the "superior" card out around gun hunters. It'd beone thing if it were true, but just because you bow hunt, doesn't make you a better hunter. Many folks don't get into bow because it's additional cost, they don't have enough vacation time to fit it in, the weather is usually miserably hot the first few weeks, and on and on. Some of the guys I've black powder hunted with are as good as it gets when it comes to whitetail savy. Learned a lot from them. Funny how some feel making a 250 yard shot freehand with a rifle is such an easy thing. You never feel limited with arifle, and that can be a very bad thing.

Maybe, and this is pure speculation,
That true bowhunters hold themselves at a higher level of excellence in hunting... true hunting.... than many "hunters" cannot relate to.
Bowhunting used to be the cream of the crop.
The guys who didn't deal in Yards, but feet
The guys who actually hunted deer like our founding fathers did...
The guys that knew they'd kill a deer worthy of bragging, whether it was a spike or a 14 point, it was your deer.
Not some punk, who embraces the technology of hunting, and acts like a bowhunter, but really doesn't have a clue as to the true nature of a hunt.
I'm a jerk....
And its because I think I'm the best... I hunt with a really piss poor attitude, and I perform at a level that ensures that not only wil I kill a deer, I'll do it in a way that makes other men wish they could accomplish.
I am the cream of the crop...
I am a god darn bowhunter

in my opionion, a bowhunter or a hunter is the same, we all hunt, just because some one has more experience then you or another person dosnt mean they are better, just like a sin is a sin, murdering and lying are both sins, in gods eyes neither one of them are worse then the other, same thing with hunting, know one is better then another person everyone is equal, you might know more but that still dosnt give anyone the right to think they are better then some one else.
Well, in my world, there is a huge difference between myself and a guy who uses a rifle to shoot a deer at 250 yards and call it hunting, and I'm not too religious, nor do I respect religious people.
wether you are hunting at 250 yards or 20 it is still huntingotherwise you would see it on HUNTING showsso you dont respect me because i am religous???? or did i misunderstand

Probably mis-understood, and this quote is a matter of opinion, It is in my opinion that fair chase is negated in rifle hunting, and should not be included as a "hunt".
Putting a stand next to a cornfield and opening a kill range up at 300 yards around you is not to be related to bowhunting by any means.
That animal doesn't have a chance of sensing you, Its not fair chase by any means.....

It's just like the constant arguments between fly/bait anglers. Fly users get the uppity tag, sometimes rightfully so, just because they don't dunk worms.

For me, I haven't hunted with a gun in years and usually won't even watch the hunting shows where they're gun hunting. I don't have anything against anyone who primarily gun hunts, I just don't find it 1/100th as enjoyable as bowhunting and everything that comes with it.

you havent rifle hunted much have you

and if youre going to say something like that, then how come using a compound is still bowhunting, comparing it to a recurve or longbow?

It's sad but so true. Many Bowhunters feel they are the cream of the crop of all hunters. They feel the are above any other method of hunting becauseusing a guntakes away the challenge of the hunt.....hell, someone already said in this theread........."it's not fair chase to shoot a deer at XXX yars with a rifle"....and we are on a HUNTING site!!!![:@][:'(].

How people get to this point is beyond me. I guess it just takes arrogant a$$holes to begin with. Probably arrogant in every other aspect of life too.......

Bowhunting was a way for me to enjoy hunting earlier and longer. It opened my eyes to the thrill of getting closer to game and the thrill in killing something that close. I love that part of it and always will, but it does not mean I do not enjoy sitting behind an old oak watching a flat knowing if I see it I can kill it!

I'll extend the invitation toreform this logic to make sense in anyway that is less than retarded, maybe the difference in 25 yards vs. 300 yards is more than you can wrap your brain around but, like I said, Its an opinion....
and no, I don't rifle hunt whitetails... I use a slug gun, and its still within35 yards.
Go stalk another thread and continue your brash of unrelated comments elsewhere.
