Would you? To Expound on Germs thread.

To expound on Schultzy's reply......
I'm likely not going to ask you where you want to hunt. I'll tell you which tree to get in....or give you a choice of 2 (and an explanation of why I chose those two for that hunt).
The "insult" would be claiming to know a man's woods.....better than he. It's a ticket to not getting asked to return.
There is no greater "expert" on a given piece of property.....than the man who hunts it day in and day out. Accept that.....and hunt where he tells you to. It's your best chance at success.
Just my opinions......

But from expounding from germs who expounded from DT, it was said, "best stand" Not intented to run through the woods finding a place to set up

Nope I'd tell that person that I haven't put the work in that they did and I do not deserve the oppertunity. If they took it as an insult I would obviously respect there wishes and do as told.
The 1st thing that came to mind on this thread was that if the person who owns the land knows his woods and deer hunting why would anyone of us 2nd guess on the idea of choosing a different spot on our own? I would sit in any one of his set ups but its beyond me why someone would go out on there own and set up in someone else's property that they do not know. Heck you would probably make it worse for everyone by doing it your way instead of the guy who is offering any particular stand.

I'd hunt it in a heartbeat only if I could return the favor to him on my land. If he's a friend of mine that hunts, then I know that HE knows what he's talking about. If he tells me it's the best setup on his land for that day, then I'm trusting him and going there. But, like I said I'm not going to hunt one of his best stands without setting him up in the same way on my land.

I have a very good success ratio on Hunts where I am huntingout of state on someone's else's property. I think that is in large part due to the fact that I listen to what they have to say, and hunt where ever it is suggested. I may refine my position after a day or 2, and I have even done that on guided hunts.
I killed one of my Best Bears by moving just a little.
On another note I have had pretty good success setting guys up on the properties I hunt. I really don't remember anyone that did not have an opportunity to shoot.
I do remember one guy that ran out of arrows[8D]
That's Ok! Don't sweat I'm not telling who[:-]

This is my opinion on the sudject.
If I were lucky enough to get invited to hunt somewhere with a friend, I think we would have went over the scenarios. If I was invited to shoot a doe, that's what I'll do. Honestly, it doesn't matter to me, as far as buck or doe goes when hunting with someone else. I just love hunting with friends, I have a blast. Unfortunately, I don't really have too many friends that hunt. People my age that hunts seem to be getting fewer and farther between. [&:]
If I have someone over to my house to hunt, I tell them to shoot what they want to. I'm not a selfish hunter at all, to me that's not what hunting is all about.
I have more fun hunting with friends and family. I would have more fun hunting with a good friend and shooting a doe than hunting by myself and shooting a buck. Weird I know.
