Mmm....the quality is declining. We have guys starting threads about prejudice, website warfare, and awesome-ness of bowhunting self[8D]. If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem, right

The King is correct.

This place is struggling mightily for an intelligent string of threads….although today’s scrape discussion was very much in the right direction. Hopefully as the summer progresses, more pertinent topics will continue to surface, but alas we will also get to look forward to about 17 “how do I get on a team” posts. Likely that 5-6 will be on the front page at a single time too. It would be nice if people at least spell checked or even read back to themselves what they type before hitting the submit button.

I’m not touching the stereo type part….something about if you can’t say anything nice….

OK, King Window-Licker. Why not you be the first to come up with an "intelligent" thread? Instead of a pile of useless info, why not tell us something interesting?

Well?

LT

By the way, sorry if I spit on your windshield dude.

Its just the nature of the beast and is what happens to all message boards when they get this large. Back in the day, posts were much less frequent and were actually worth reading. We didn't have 35 newbies trying to see who could get to 5,000 posts the quickest. It was a close knit group of guys that shared the passion of bowhunting. Guys like:

Rob
Rack Attack
Altasman
Arthur P
Matt
MQ1shooter(what happened to that dork? )
Silentassasin
Cardeer
Davidmil
Len
Illinois Bow Man
Artic Bow Man
Stealthycat
Buckeye
and many more....

Ahh.. I regress...those were the days....

Jeff (early-in), we're not talking about the "I'm new - help me learn how to hunt" genre of posts.

My beef is with the conspicuous absence of some of our former esteemed colleagues, as well as the deteriorating quality of posts from our more regular posters. I feel like a lot of our best, most entertaining and informative postersaren't posting so much anymore(and I know this from some private discussions I've had). Now I'm not sure if they've just been squeezed out by some of the new guys, or are just sick of the mentally deficient discussions that have seemed to rule the day around here lately... But either way - His Majesty demands change.

I understand that not everyone is Mark Twain, but come on. I can easily see past some typos and grammatical errors, as long as the subject matter is interesting. But the fact of the matter is that it has been slowly degrading over the past year or two, almost to a point where it's no longer worth our time to read the board.

I know I'm not going to change the world here, but I'm just asking that if you don't have anything interesting to say, then don't say it. Conversely, if you do have an interesting topic or comment on your cranium - then don't be shy about posting it.I know we have some readers out there who have a lot to offer, andI welcome a little new edge to the dailyroutine.

When you hit the OK button, you should ask yourself: Does anyonereally want to read what I have to say? Is it thoughtful? Is it informative? Is it useful? Is it entertaining?

If the answer is no - then please do us all a favor andspare us the agony.

I got the gist of your original post, it didn't need to be explained again. I just hope you got the gist of my reply. Like I said, not everyone is a lawyer around here. Also, bare in mind, this is the off season.

King,

Didn't you have a thread a couple weeks ago about how you cant read hunting magazines anymore because you learn more from this board?

And, i usually am the guy asking the "dumb" or "simple" questions, just because im not as experienced as some of the other hunters around here

First: Thanks for the support, gentlemen. I knew this wasn't falling on deaf ears.

Siman - you're def not one of the guys making dumb posts. Actually, I've always thought you were a pretty sharp kid. You even punctuate correctly. Duly noted.

And yes - I did say that I learn a lot from this forum. The "learning" though, has slowed to a trickle. And there's also a lot to be gained by researching things before you post - and learning that way. When I say I "learn" - that's one way that I do it. Not just from reading the posts, but I learn just as much from making them.

Stick around here kid. This place needs more peeps like you.

While I'm on a full-scale rant:

Did you ever see the Seinfeld episode .......where he and his girl had the nicknames for each other? You know.....the "You're a shmoopie". No....YOU're a shmoopie"? And on....and on....and on......

THAT is what this board has turned into. You have 15 brain-dead dipwads screaming that back and forth, disguised as informative hunting intelligentia. It's like driving a butterknife through my temple.

And because I feel like being really candid - something else that's really rubbed me wrong over the past few years:

If your taxidermy bill is bigger than your property tax - you might want to re-evaluate your priorities.

Go to the Technical section, there's always some good discussions going on in there. Granted, that area is geared more towards the equipment, but that's where I hang out the most.
