Thanks for sharing, I will definately try to make use of it. I am a beginner hunter right now so posts like these ones are very helpful. 2007 was my first year and I spooked a lot of deer on my way to the stand. Of course, I was hunting in some pretty thick woods and the swamps. This year I am going to begin my scouting in August and try to see if I can find some spots near the corn fields as well.

I wish I knew where the bars with justthe hot chicks were when I was younger, I can tell you where the fat beer chugging chicks hang out andoccasionally a hot chick would get lost and end up there. jk

Thanks for that post Greg, sometimes we think we know stuff but reading it the way you just described it made it seem a lot clearer. Good comparison and thanks again.

Bound to read that info in a furture article from some guy who knows it all. I can hear you now, "Hey, I said that"

Thanks for the info.Nice deer!

Just noticed what you were pointing at and the reason for the grin...
That has happened a few times over the years, I'll have something figured out or told to me by a friend then read about it a few years later in a hunting mag.

I have found that there are two distinct time periods for a flurry of big buck activity. The first one is around Oct. 27th through Nov. 4th. and the second one is from Nov. 7th through Nov. 12th. Plenty of bucks are taken on the 5th and 6th but in recent years I have seen the most action around Nov. 2nd and again around Nov. 11th.

A great bit of info once again, but this part really stuck with me. Looking back, this pretty much is exactly what I have noticed the last few years. Any theories why? My initial thought is perhaps the first 'early' round is triggered by the very first few mature does that come round in any area (with the bulk coming round later), but I am not sure.
