I was a "serious crossbow shooter", and your choice of words (ridicule and detest)sucks![:@] I don't ridicule or detest the use of CB's, and have stated this in my previous posts. You really should pay moreattention to what people say. This being said, I still maintain there is no follow through involved when you're resting a CB! If you're shooting free hand there would be.
If you wantthe best results in accuracy, resting the CB is the way to go. Like I said before, if you read it right, that's why guys sighting in a rifle use a rest/bench, for the best accuracy. Think about it.
I'll say this one more time. I have no problem with anyone who chooses to hunt with a CB, it's just not forME anymore.

No pride issues here Rock, just Tradition for the abled body person. I'm trying to protect the Tradition of bow hunting in the USA so my daughter and maybe her kids can actually know what a bow and arrow is and was. Before you know it compounds are going to be legal with draw locks. Is that what you want for bow hunting today? Not I! I have no issues with the people who can't pull these regular bows back, set them up with a xbow so they can go out hunting.

Explain to me how CB's will "ruin" the tradition of bowhunting? If all you teach your daughter is traditional bowhunting how will someone else using a CB prevent her from knowing what a bow and arrow is and was? If compounds are legal with draw locks how will that prevent you from teaching your daughter traditonal bowhunting? What kind of logic are you using here?

The only thing I can figure is that most folks who want to ban crossbows are probably going to vote for Hillary and hope to renew the assault weapons ban.... by and large the two subjects are not that far apart... you are limiting the freedoms of law abiding citizens to do as they wish by taking away the means to their end.
I still maintain, as you do bruce, that parents and mentors are solely responsible for the upbringing of the next generation of hunters. Schultzy I've hardly ever typed a word to you and I can tell outright you're a hell of a good father... and I'm sure your daughter is going to make a heck of an archer and bowhunter... but thats all because of YOU! Not because you kept the evil crossbow away.
The average crossbow customer of mine is over the age of 50, and quite often has a fair amount of archery experience in their history. But time and hard work have taken their toll. All of us know that the archery season in most places in the country is one of the prettiest times of year just to be outside, let alone hunt. They just want that opportunity back, but aren't bad off enough to be considered full on handicapped.
There again... I could care less if someone wants to hunt with a crossbow... have a good time.

We killed 165,663 deer last season in Arkansas. Vert's got 10,164, Xbows 4,608, guns the rest. No big deal here, have a 5 month season and a 4 deer limit, not counting bonus urban permits/tags.

Ok RockinChair, you've officially worn me on this post. So I'll just leave you with one last question. In your opinion, is itequally as challenging to take an animal with a crossbow, as it is witha compound? . . . isthe playing field level??

We've been over this one before.... if you are hunting strictly because you need a challenge in your life... then you have a hole in your life...
"People like him got a great big hole running right through the middle of them... and they can never kill enough, or steal enough, or inflict enough pain to fill it."
Ring any bells?
